And it is completely acceptable that I'm listening to this. After all, Joseph Williams (John William's son) is the singing voice for adult Simba.

Wow! I never knew that Simba was the son of the king of Scoreland. Very interesting to learn this. Everyday you learn ridiculous and forgettable stuff. This is not one of them! cool

Yes, Simba is John Williams' son.
And Simba's dad is Darth Vader.

So John Williams is Darth Vader. Logically.

Probably my favorite Jarre score. Exotic, thematic, purely symphonic, over the top... awesome, AWESOME music!

Okay, I just need to make myself acquainted with BG music. I saw the series, some music was particularly nice and the action music... well special indeed. With season 3 nearing its end (I'm a little behind) I think it's time to start listening to the soundtracks. People are going nuts over these, so I'll check em out ASAP.

Bregt can help you out with that, I have all the non BG music of McCreary cheesy

No problem! I have my sources too. Speaking of which, don't you think its about time you start exploring the galaxy in a Battlestar? You could do much worse with your time tongue

    hmn, maybe? tongue

OK dude, I just don't get what you're saying there. Enlighten me.

actually, haven't got the faintest clue myself biggrin
who gives a shit, it might be time to explore Battlestar yes

I play it a lot in the car. Partly because it's one of the CDs I have in my car and I never remember to change them around, but mostly because it's awesome to drive to. biggrin

Last Of The Dogmen David Arnold

Although I'd love to hear more from this score, 36 minutes makes for a very enjoyable album. Soooo looking forward to this new Narnia score.

One of the most overlooked by Arnold, this IMO has more in common with John Barry than his recent Bond scores. Absolutely gorgeous and unmissable if you don't already know it.

Wasn't Narnia canceled, or at least put on hold?

    Picked up by another studio.

I listened to Last of the Dogmen once. I think I heard the main theme repeated enough on that one occasion to last a lifetime so I gave it away. Very pleased he didn't often repeat that Barry impersonation after that (apart from the occasional moment in the Bond scores and of course Godzilla, when he did it far better) - didn't think he was good at it.

Shame you don't like Last of the Dogmen, I find there's much to enjoy... and the theme is great! That's the thing with Arnold, say what you will, he sure knows how to use themes. At least I think he does.

    Die Hard Michael Kamen

I think you have to be a fan of the movie to fully enjoy this one. Excellent film music! So many references to other pieces of music. Never have sleigh bells sounded so sinister.
  5. NP: Shogun (Jarre)

I really like the Oriental theme (love theme?) from this score.

  6. NP: 'Prelude to War' from Battlestar Galactica 2 (McCreary)

If you've seen the episodes this piece is assembled from, you know how strong it is as accompaniment. The use 0:56-3:10 for Cain and Adama's CRIMSON TIDE like verbal standoff makes for one hell of a cliffhanger. And the section from 3:14-3:53 for the 'dogfight' where no plane wants to be seen as firing the first shot is really extraordinarily well-judged spotting. (The series sometimes is a bit cavalier with spotting - playing through the action like Morricone does very often.) Finally the section for Apollo's space walk from 6:10-7:33 - the visuals help, but that really is moment of scoring worthy of the best sci-fi films.
