And THIS too I'd bet Tom!?

Anyone else remember this? Never cared for the show ( it wasn't British....??? ) but the theme song is lovely and dreamy and I have a nostalgic connection with this and hot summers as a junior.

Now here's something that CREEPED THE HELL OUT OF ME when I was very young, it was a BBC show similar to the later Tales of The Unexpected but far more science fiction. It's still eerily macabre even now, see what you think?

    Out of The Unknown

The eerie music is by French composer Roger Roger, up until I finally found out what this was ( I only had vague ideas of what the title of the program was and yet I could remember that music still after all those years ) I was sure the music was probably by Barry Gray, I think Alan will hear what I mean!?

This series doesn't ring a bell Tim , I never saw it probably or I can't remember seeing it .
Talking about horses in TV series , I do have fond memories of this one . And this series I watched over and over and over when I was a kid .
I love that opening theme !

My kids used to watch Rescue Rangers Miya . They loved it as well .
I never saw much of it . Talking about cartoons and anime , I actually
grew up with watching lots of Japanese series like Gatchaman (Battle of the Planets) , Albator (Captain Harlock) , Goldorak (UFO Robot Grendizer) , Captain Future , Ulysses 31 etc ...
They showed them on the French tv channels TF1 , Antenne 2 & FR3 .
Ah , those were the days ... Nostalgia , nostalgia ... I'm getting old ... biggrin

Two more international series from my childhood to which I have a strong nostalgic relationship, and which some of you may know:

    Les Mondes Engloutis

    and

Det Var En Gang Et Menneske aka Once Upon a Time

I have the soundtrack to the first in my collection (by Vladimir Cosma) and the famous Bach fugue for the second may be one of my first exposures to classical music.
    I am extremely serious.

Love that theme to Follyfoot cool It's the only thing I can think of outside James Bond that starred Q.

Black Beauty is a great theme. You do know that it's also a favourite of Alan Partridge wink

Another one of my fav's , though season 2 wasn't as good as season 1 .
The theme music rocked as well ! The soundtrack is pretty rare to find these days .
Curious ? Click here ... spin

No, it doesn't ring any bells at all. Either this passed me by or it was never shown here?

Never saw it (I just dropped out of the intended demographic), but I remember it well indeed.
It was either on one of our commercial stations or on Belgian-Flemish TV, I think?

I'm surprised it never seems to have run in teh UK? From what I saw, it certainly wasn't bad!

I've just come across an old program from 1980

It's for Filmharmonic 80 which I attended at the Royal Albert Hall on 18th October 1980.....exactly 30 years and 3 days ago, it's signed all across the play list in the middle page by the conductors that night, Geoff Love, John Addison and John Williams

    30 years!? shocked

I remember that day so well, an extremely early ( 6.00am ) Saturday morning journey to London with my good friend John Wood who I persuaded to go with me ( not too hard as he's a classical music man with a reasonably healthy taste for film music ), I remember spending the day shopping, particularly soundtrack specialist shop That's Entertainment which used to be situated in Covent Garden where I bought LP's of BORN FREE and LOGAN'S RUN and John bought THE BLUE MAX, after lunch we spent the rest of the day in the Natural History Museum looking at Dinosaurs, full sized Blue Whale and other great items of astonishing delight, in the evening came the concert which was the first experience of it's kind for a 19 year old me, I would have appreciated this a lot more in later years as I can remember at the time thinking 'get on with it, I want JOHN WILLIAMS', in retrospect it was such an event, superbly hosted by Donald Sinden and Elaine Stritch, events like these were exceptionally rare back then and we were already looking forward to Filmharmonic 81 which was to feature Jerry Golsdsmith as the star turn ( unfortunately Filmharmonic 80 turned out to be the last of a yearly series ), after meeting the composers and getting their signatures we had to make a dash on foot to Paddington Station where we caught the last train of the night with seconds, litterally, to spare.

    What a day. cool

Just wondering if anybody ( Alan, more likely than anyone ) remembers this British Public Information Film?

It's a gentle time from my childhood I miss, seeing these things on late evening TV, the folksy melancholic tune is delightful too.

  2. It does seem familiar and I am sure that I saw these as a child too. But it does have the feel of a trailer for The Wicker Man.

I'm still trying to find an information film I remember from my childhood where there was a rural monitoring station (underground) where they were monitoring radiation levels (or maybe alert status levels).

I'd forgotten the title of this but came across it by accident, one of the most creepiest children's TV show themes EVER!!!

    PICTURE BOX

It was one of those shows for schools, in particular, junior school age.

I'm not sure if anyone else here besides Alan will know or remember this?
