Annie Award nominated stop-motion feature $9.99, directed by Tatia Rosenthal, features a poetic and slightly minimalist score composed by Christopher Bowen, whose previous works include the equally beautiful score for the acclaimed Shira Geffen/Etgar Keret drama Jellyfish.
MovieScore Media's digital release of the $9.99 score (yes, it will cost what it says!) co-incides with the theatrical release of the film in France on April 29, and the film will then premiere in the US on June 19.
Bowen effectively shows that a captivating score doesn't necessarily have to be big and sweeping - the $9.99 music is small-scale with an emphasis on piano, a string quartet and electronics. The film follows a number of individuals who live in a Syndey apartment complex looking for meaning in their lives. And just like the characters in the film, the score has a sort of soul-seeking quality!

It does sound quite interesting - a nice change from all these full-blown orchestral efforts! The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn
