  1. Son of Ennio Morricone.

His resume on GSAMusic shows he "collaborated" on at least 11 films/miniseries with his father.

He has scored two new features:

    "Huxley on Huxley" (a documentary)

and a western called "Hired Guns". You can hear two cues from this film here:

Wow! How on earth did we not have a thread for this dude before?

Thanks for the heads up Justin. Those two tracks sound very cool!

    From the web site-
Andrea works in Rome and Los Angeles and recently moved into his latest production suite at the world famous Village Recorder in West Los Angeles. Current work includes an album of new concert works recorded at Capitol Records, writing music for concerts in Rome and Caracas (Orchestra Simon Bolivar) and collaborating on independent film projects.

You'll want to use ALL CAPS for the thread title.

Yes, an Andrea Morricone thread is certainly warranted, as the guy has certainly inherited much of his father's gift for melody. The thread title needs to be edited to CAPS though, as Bhel says, as all composer threads are.

My Andrea scores and rating so far:

    La luna fredda ***
    Liberty heights *****
    Raul-Diritto di uccidere ***
    Veronika decides to die ***
    L'inchiesta ****½

I'm sure the music is not by Andrea, but in this site promoting "Hired guns" there's a very cool pastiche of his father's western music. Click on the "Twitch" video.

Anyone knows what's that about, and who composed it?

No idea, but its got me hooked. Love it! The vocals at the end are a nice touch.

Hope we get an Andrea cd release this year.

Indeed, it's way cooler than most Morricone homages I've heard. The vocals are indeed very nice, just a shame it's cut short just at the climax.

The vocals are clearly inspired by the "Cavalcata ... per Elisa" track from "Un genio, due compari, un pollo" which is Morricone imitating himself. So basically an imitation of an imitation.

Me too. imdb says that "Hired guns" are scheduled for release in 2010 though.

A shame he isn't as productive as his father were in his early days.

Oh dear! I don't have the Genio score. Listening to the track on Youtube now! punk Thanks man!

Now I need to get the cd.

    Cool! beer

If you decide get the album be careful that you don't expect a western score though, as it's more of a silly comedy score than a western score. That said, it's a still a great album with several catchy tunes.

My favourite track is the cheerful and cheesy love theme.

I've only heard the two you gave the highest ratings too (and I think I gave them similar ratings when reviewing them). I've been a bit surprised not to see his name on more films and albums - hope he takes off a bit. The apple didn't fall far from the tree.

I would really like to hear the music he'd wirtten for Een Vrouw van het Noorden, a Dutch/Italian co-production.

Nice ratings Joep. Seems we basically agree (except for the Ultimos which I'd rate lower and Il quarto re, which I'd rate 9). punk

I hope my average ratings for the others haven't discouraged you from trying those out as well (as I'd love to read your reviews of them). They actually have superb themes all three of those I gave 3 stars, so they are well worth checking out. They are rather monothematic though, which explains the lower rating, but they are still highly listenable.

Indeed. I don't think he'll ever reach the levels of his father though. But his scores are at least as fine as other famous italian composers like Piovani and Bacalov.

Oops, turns out it actually is by Andrea that cool theme. One can hear it in the link provided in the OP (click on "A bullet waits for you").

Anyone know how to record the music from such a site? I tried opening my Audacity program and clicking record while the music was playing. Of course nothing was recorded. slant

I've faced the same problems when using Audacity or any other similar program. People advised me to change lines, which didn't help me get any further.

Awesome! There are direct links to the clips if you view the page source.
    Here's clip 1 and clip 2.
  2. Some Windows programs have it set up to where the settings are against you, and it's not intuitive on how to fix it. You have to readjust them, then audacity will work.

First, click on the volume thingy in your right tray, click on Recording Devices; double click Microphone, choose the Levels tab, and mute the mic (if you don't, any recording with the mic will have a background hiss).

You'll have to Google the rest on how to get Audacity to record, as my post has since been purged from the Audacity forum (forum.audacityteam.org).

Like listening to his father-> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrmRIylsrcA

A rather grand finale as well.

Anyway, it's curious how both he and his father seems to be hard at work, but none of their stuff gets released these days.

The first 5 tracks sound fantastic: track 3 in particular sounds really heart-melting. Some of the latter suspense tracks doesn't appeal much to me, but the same is true for Ennio's suspense music.

I will have to get this score. Thanks for mentioning it and providing the sound samples! beer

I'm enjoying this score as well. Anyway it's curious how different it is from Liberty heights and L'inchiesta. Had I heard these three scores without knowing the composer I probably wouldn't have guessed that it was by the same guy.
