    I can understand and i KNOW how many people are loving that sound; i am not jesting with that, i was asking if there's anyone out there who isn't into that sound, at least on CD ('cause on screen, they're indeed phenomenal for their era and genre).

    No, i don't just like them in the movie; in those movie, they're phenomenal; not only they're an integral part of a whole genre and era, but they're also one of the factors that gave birth to it and form it the way we came to know it; absolutely no argument against it!

    On CD though, i always found that i can't stand listening to more than a couple of cues in a row smile

  8. Granted, those Morricone scores aren't the most listenable ones, because while indeed ingenious, they rely on experiments a lot and may be hard to bear except the thematic material, which is again genial (Ecstasy of Gold, all the main themes)

    I don't think Demetris will want to side with me on this one though. I don't even like Morricone let alone his spaghetti sandwich burger westerns.

    I wish I did though, as there's obviously a lot of rewarding music to enjoy. But Unfortunately I don't.

    Mark Rydell - John Williams
    It was the first director in which Williams made a continuous collaboration (The Cowboys, The Reivers, Cinderella Liberty), all before the Spielberg & Lucas movies.

    David Cronenberg - Howard Shore
    Shore is better known for his collaboration with Jackson on Lord of the Rings, but his main body of work comes from his collaboration with Cronenberg.

    Don't forget there last film together... THE RIVER.

    BTW, I'd say the first big professional collaboration for Williams was with producer Irwin Allen. Lost in Space, Time Tunnel, Land of the Giants... and then onto the big screen with The Poseidon Adventure and The Towering Inferno.

    Great scores, but I REALLY have problems swallowing Rydell's sense of moral in his films, and the way he justifies certain actions (or DOESN'T justify them). It somehow seems to be more than just narrative sloppiness.
    I am extremely serious.
