Yes, "penultimate". "Ultimate" until Zimmer gets his next one out, which -pretty much automatically- will make that score Jordi's uncontested favourite, relegating the former score to the penultimate masterpiece.

    Ees seemple, no?

The "before Zimmer gets out his next score which will be automatically Jordi's favorite Zimmer score" made me laugh the most, mostly because it's a perfectly valid point and also because i imagine (remember) Jordi's reactions every time a new major Zimmer score is released biggrin
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

Remember that sometimes he hates them before he proclaims them as the best score ever!

Well, i'd say that's ALWAYS the first stage of feelings before he goes onto liking them! And then not liking them. And then liking them again; but then deciding its the best Zimmer score ever. But it's not that good. MAybe it sucks. But essentially, it's the best score of the year, but the worst of Zimmer so far. And it's best. Ever.

My guess is because there are far worthier soundtracks to review. Angels and Demons is pants!

I disagree. Angels & Demons is really indeed good score.

    Maybe!

I will do it one day. Would want to watch the film again first (which would be no chore). I don't think I could do it justice though, the way some forum members here have over the years.
  2. It would be great if your review was there though, I want to see your take of my all-time favourite and, really, the reason why I would hire Zimmer as my movie's composer (even at the expense of potentially firing somebody like Horner!)

It depends on what your movie is about!

I'm going to make a Spanish-language film about a group of patients in a mental home and call it Juan Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. For the score I will hire Kelvin Wheelbarrow.

    lol

I want to do mostly thrillers and dramas, low-key dramatic scores. And maybe some Tom Clancy novels, if I'm allowed!

Most generally, I think that with the right treatment, Zimmer IS very versatile. The fact that he's hired BECAUSE of the sound is also a factor in the sound of the general thing. If Zimmer was told to get out of his comfort zone, he'll give you another The Thin Red Line or Frost/Nixon shocker!
