Sunil... I don't know what world you live in, but this sort of thing happens all the time. Virtually everyone gets these kinds of emails; it's nothing out of the ordinary, and all you need to do is realize it's a fake just by the sight of it. -

William, i know that, this world has full of cheaters. Yesterday, i have experienced it and learned from this experience. At the same time, i strongly believe in American philosophy, "There is no free lunch". In this world, nothing comes to you very easily. If i were able get 500000 pounds sterling just like that, then there won't be any problems, worries, obstacles in my life. Anyhow, by posting this kind of thread, it may provide some alertness to others.
Have a nice day!Racism, Prejudices and discrimination exists everywhere. -

Here's one I recieved a couple of months ago, announcing my own death!:
"Please kindly accept my apology for sending unsolicited mail to you. I
believe you are a highly respected personality, considering the fact
that I sourced your profile from a human resource profile database on
your country. Though, I do not know to what extent you are familiar with
events.Well, I am Desire H. Aihou, a Solicitor. The Personal Attorney to
Late Mr.Peter Lindboe, a national of your country, who used to work
as the
Director of Produits petroliers (TOTAL BENIN) in Benin Republic West
Africa.
On the 29th of JUNE 2004, my client, His wife and their three Children
were involved in a car accident Along Sagbama express-road.
Unfortunately, they all lost their lives in the event of the accident..
Since then I have made several enquiries to your Embassy to locate any
of my client's extended relatives, this has also proved unsuccessful.
After these several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to trace his
relatives over the Internet to locate any member of his family but to no
avail, hence, I contacted you to assist in repatriating the money left
behind by my client before they get confiscated or declared
unserviceable by the Bank here. These huge deposits were lodged
particularly; with the "BANQUE ATLANTIQUE DU BENIN (BAB)" An affiliate
of Commercial Bank of Africa where the Deceased had an account valued
about $14..5 million dollars, (Fourteen million five hundred thousand
dollars only).
The Bank has issued me a notice to provide the next of kin or have the
account confiscated. Since I have been unsuccessful in Locating the
relatives for over Five years now, I seek your consent to present you as
the next of kin of the deceased since you have the same last name with
him so that the proceeds of this account valued about $14.5 million
dollars can be paid to you and then the sharing ratio should be 50% for
me and 50% for you, I have all the necessary legal documents that can be
used to back up with our claim we will make with the Bank. All I require
is your honest cooperation to enable us seeing this Deal through.
I guarantee that this will be executed under a legitimate arrangement
that will protect you from any breach of the law. And the way we are
going to achieve this is that I will need the following information from
you."

They sure put some effort in making those e-mails look as genuine as possible.
It would be some very mentally deranged person or someone incredibly naive to actually respond to it."considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

I'm surprised you guys even READ these mails still! They are immediately deleted here, or put in the spam box if it has managed to sneak past the filter. I think I read one or two of them back when they first started to arrive back in....1934 or thereabouts?I am extremely serious. -

GMail is fantastic in scanning for spam. I never receive those emails anymore in my Inbox, and have been using GMail as my main email service for some eyars now. It's also so well built, with clever message display, keyboard shortcuts, saving your new messages by itself, ...
And if you enable Labs, you can "cancel" sent messages (it actually waits a couple of seconds before it actually sends the email), tasks manager, ...Kazoo -

Sunil,
Those spam mails you received are very common. You might want to check Advance fee fraud for more info.
There are some people (scam baiters) who respond to the spammers pretending to fall for their schemes but actually waste their time and (usually) get them to perform mundane tasks.

Peter,
That's some crazy stuff! But there's some creativity shown there (along with much better English). -

I honestly don't understand how people fall for this obviously fake stuff. The rock they must live under has to be HUGE to NOT know better.
Sunil, you might want to contact Europe -- you've no doubt won the UK Lottery a few times and not collected. Also, the late African leader Todo Modo has left you millions, you just have to speak with his son. Might want to look him up.
Oh, and don't forget to collect on that all free viagra!!!The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else. -

We all do stupid stuff, especially if we haven't encountered something before. I think I'm a pretty bright fella', but in the past when I got spam that ended with "If you don't want to receive any more offers, click on this link and fill in your mail". Only later I realized that that was the worst thing one could possibly do if one doesn't want spam.
It's all part of the human experience; doing completely asinine stuff once in a while and only afterwards realizing how incredibly asinine it was. We're all potential Darwin Award nominees.
