Buffy's a brilliant show, but I don't much care for the whiny character that she is. Gimme the Batmanesque character of Angel any day!

David Boreanaz doesn't quite have the chiseled good looks of Christian Bale -- he's a bit too goofy in Angel (particularly in the first season), but when he goes into evil mode -- it's quite entertaining.

I meant Batmanesque as in the situations, emotions and moralities the character goes through, i.e. the fact that he's "Protector of people" - so not necessarily his attitude. I think his 'goofiness' is pitched perfectly, you're supposed to love this character, not feel as though the whole world is about to end every time he speaks. Whedon is all about the humour! I wouldn't enjoy a Nolan version of Angel nearly as much as Whedon's.

But Sarah Michelle Gellar handily beats Katie Holmes and Maggie Gyllenhaal in the looks department, so it comes to a draw. biggrin

I've never understood the big appeal of Gellar. She's completely unattractive to me. Not my kinda gal at all.
    I am extremely serious.

Wiseman has a clip from Lesbian Vampire Killers up on her webpage... sounds pretty good.

This is definitely one I'm getting - clips of all the tracks at Amazon sound great!

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lesbian-Vampire … p;sr=103-1

It's really very good indeed. I'm not usually a big fan of Wiseman but this one's definitely worth it.

Have you heard the CD, James?

Yes - first listen was today.

Confused? Who is saying what. These quote things can be worse than none at all

A clue is in the fact that one of the posters says "Have you heard the CD, James?" - a process of elimination can lead you to discover which of Alan or James this was. wink

I agree, too much quoting is confusing. But that doesn't mean she shouldn't use it. wink

  4. I'm hearing a few influences from Christophe Beck's score to the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" episode "Hush"; the epsiode was nominated for a few awards, but didn't win any. You can hear it here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7DwnWfDmKM

In fact, sounds to me like it's the same female vocalist.

In Wiseman's score, it's Hayley Westenra.

This score is awesome and I second Jon's remarks about it being up for the best score of 2009 so far. That opening roar on French horns makes me happy in the pants every time!

Now, if it only could have been Gay Vampire Killers... biggrin

While Lesbian Vampire Killers is a fun listen I can get around the numerous rip offs and lifts in this score. It's shameful really. This one won't be on my Best of 09 list.

What's the beef with ARSENE LUPIN? Apart from one temp track rip from MINORITY REPORT, it's pretty good and is its own work.

  9. Debbie Wiseman has been involved in a project over the last few months, putting together an album featuring many of her themes (some previously unreleased). All of them have been adapted for solo piano. "Piano Stories" is released in September and there are clips to hear here:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wiseman-Piano-S … p;sr=301-1

The clip of the theme from The Hide is a great start to the album.
