We are proud to present to you a highly dramatic album featuring two large orchestral epic scores from British composer Daniel Pemberton, composed for BBC's adventure series Heroes and Villains (known as Warriors in the US and released on DVD there in April).

Pemberton, a remarkable talent who has written a lot of strikingly original music for UK television (including Prehistoric Park, Hiroshima, The Haunted Airman, Peep Show, High Spirits With Shirley Ghostman), wrote the music for the two first episodes of the series, focusing on Attila the Hun and Napoleon.

This album features both scores, beautifully performed by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Attila is a symphonic adrenaline fest with its epic action music and ethnic colorings, while Napoleon impresses with its Beethoven-influenced classical sound. BBC originally aired this series in 2007 - here is your chance to relive the excitement of the show!

Tom, do you have a preference between Attila The Hun and Napoleon?

I would say that the Napoleon is more to your liking out of the two - purely because it's more in the classical mode.

Me, I prefer Attila The Hun over Napoleon - a bit more of an in-your-face actioner.

Another solid release from Mikael. Looking forward to hearing some clips from the forthcoming Triangle.

Pretty good score, orchestral and with massive brass section, wordless male lead vocals all over, and thrilling atmosphere. Lacks thematic coherence in the way that the themes are there but it's not very easy to spot, requires a lot of listens and it's a bit too long in duration. Overall with its rhythmic timpani, middle eastern percussion, duduk and female vocals, reminded me of a better version of Eshkeri's CENTURION but also carries elements of Basil Poledouris' Conan the barbarian. Some cues like "the battle of the ridge" are impressively melodic, thematic and grand. Recommended.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

Yeap smile About time, this is a very impressive score for a young composer. Looking forward to the rest of his works. What do you think of it Alan?

  3. It's a good pairing. My own tastes mean that I enjoy Attila over Napoleon.

Same here. Attila is more passionate and raw, the sound of the brass especially is captivating.
