    SAMUEL SIM - Emma

Can't remember the last time i was so annoyed by a score. Emma is a BBC mini series (if i am not mistaken) from last year and the score desperately tries to sounds like another elegant and orchestral Marianelli, only it lacks melodic discipline, actual themes and character. It's all over the place without any form of continuity or thematic coherence, to the point one quickly looses interest and attention. Next.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

NP:The Sum of All fears (goldsmith)

Gorgeous main theme. Powerful Heroic Fanfarre. Addictive middle eastern theme.

Why we have a complete from Chain reaction, and not from this score????

I remember there is a lot of unrealeased music !!!

NP: Four In The Morning - John Barry

My first listen to this score - and I've not seen the movie. But, I think that it's one of those '60s "kitchen sink dramas" that Britain did so well back then. The score's very much monothematic but Barry's dour scoring fits very well with this genre.

It may really only have the one theme, but it is quite mesmerising!

Yeah, it's a very small score. If memory serves me right he did this score for free.

NP : THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL - Paul Cantelon

My first listen to this one, I'm only half way through but it's an incredibly enjoyable score with some large nods of the hat to John Barry and Georges Delerue which, in my book is a brilliant thing! cool

NP : BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S - Henry Mancini

Wonderfully chilled out score, typical of his easy listening re-recordings. The title song isn't just one of the best film songs of all time, it's one of the best songs of all time, period!

On reflection after hearing the whole album the influence is far more Barry than Delerue, still, I thought it was very good and look forward to hearing it again. I'm glad you came around to liking it.

MY reaction could have been similar to yours. I didn't like it after listening to the soundtrack, saw the movie and heard the score again and decided that the whole enterprise could have been better. Everything was wasted in the movie. Gorgeous set design didn't get the treatment it deserved from the direction, good actors couldn't fix the stilted dialogue, and the low key, middling score made the whole thing feels like a step-brother of The Tudors.

In short, big "MEH!" all around

NP: Michael Tavera - Exo Squad

Good TV score for a greatly missed animated series.

    Poltergeist Jerry Goldsmith

One of the greatest scores ever produced with one of the loveliest melodies ever written for film, 'Carol Anne's Theme'.

I only play this in the evenings.

A fantastic score though eh? Way beyond your average ( i.e. generic ) horror score.

In the morning that's one hell of a wake-up call, I can assure you.

I prefer not to play it in the mornings or afternoon. It's just one of those scores worth waiting until the end of the day I suppose, but mostly because it's the type of score that doesn't suit daylight. Surely others have "evening" scores and albums?

I have been playing the score of AVATAR, twice in a row and I have a question: I own the original CD album but it sounds a bit low in volume. I always have to turn up the volume a bit and also, the signs on my equalizer doesn't really move during playing.
I would like to know if it is the same with you too or it is just my CD (which would be really strange...)?

    NP:Weather man (zimmer)

A great music to listen while you are at work.

It's the best way to listen "Wicker Park" sound without feeling guilty to listen a mediocre composer . tongue I LOVE THIS SOUUUUUUUUUND!

Anyway, I wonder how much music is actually from Zimmer and wich is from Levine since sometimes it sounds like "nip/tuck"
  3. I think you're still banned from Zimmer? shocked
