We have worked with British composer Mark Thomas on several albums before (Shadows in the Sun, Back in Business, Tales of the Riverbank) – our fourth collaboration presents his wonderfully spirited, melodic and Americana-tinged score for Flicka 2, 20th Century Fox's sequel to the 2006 theatrical feature.

This is Mark Thomas' third score for director Michael Damian, who is an accomplished musician himself and has a strong belief in the role of melody and the power of music in his storytelling.

The Flicka 2 score features many tender moments where the solo guitar takes the lead over soft strings, but also darker orchestral music as well as big, sweeping thematic writing matching the grand vistas of the film's Wyoming setting.

flicka 2? Seriously? Well, the first score by Aaron Zigman was nothing special, but at least enjoyable. Let's see how this is.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

CD only? Mikael why are you doing this?? You are manipulating me into buying it! And it is working!

And anyway, the idea of "Flicka 2" is so ridiculous that the score HAS to be good for the universe to remain in balance.
I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to!

I hate horse/animal movies like this like there's no tomorrow, but there's occasionally some fine music to be found in them (Elfman's BLACK BEAUTY, for example).
    I am extremely serious.

Black Beauty is a lovely score. I mostly cringe at animal movies but as you say, they have produced some fine scoring from composers, John Barry's Born Free, Angela Morley's Watership Down, Philippe Sarde's The Bear, Poledouris's Amanda, Henry Mancini's Nightwing to name but a few.

I don't have problems with the topic of the films per se, as i find there's nothing laughable between human-animal affection, but what tires me is the cheesiness of most of them. Still, as you already said, there's great music coming out of them most of the times; spirit: stallion of the cimaroon by Zimmer is a good example too.

It's primarily the godawful anthropomorphization (sp.?) of animals that annoys me to no end.

I suggest you to go see the Danish film Zafir (score by Hans-Erik Phillip). Excellent stuff!

It wasn't a favourite, no. But it's slightly easier to swallow because it's fantasy. I don't really mind animated animal films either (animal-ated?). It's basically real-life films that try to make animals into humans (with various human traits) that irk me.
