Thank you so much for these, keep em coming! Shame that so many are in poor quality, it's great material nonetheless though, i'll have to find those dvd's though! There's also one about Vangelis' 1492: the conquest of paradise but it was in very low quality from what i recall.

Thanks people! Ant, how long in duration is the actual footage of the lost music?

The documentary is about 30 minutes and if you have the blu ray version there's the five minute "The Others" suite.

  1. The Criterion Collection release of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has a really cool 14-minute featurette of Alexandre Desplat talking about his whole approach and process of scoring the film. It's probably the best one I've seen.

The Criterion Collection release of The Thin Red Line has a pretty interesting interview with Hans Zimmer on the project, talking quite openly on the process of working with Malick. There's still some trauma due to the deletion of several hours of music ('it's a lot of work, done by a lot of people'), and there were some big fights ("Terry and I, we fought like brothers'), but he also seems very proud of the end result and he speaks highly of the classical pieces that are used and replaced his music. Of which he also helped selecting, by the way.

Criterion's release of Fellini's 8 1/2 has a very interesting 48 min. documentary on the life and work of Nino Rota.
