  1. "The Syncopated Clock"

Silvestri payed homage to the catchy reframe from it, in an entire cue in his wonderful (needing a complete release) score to "Holy Man".

I wonder if anyone remembers this.......Alan???

    GANGSTERS

A BBC series that ran from 1975-78.

Thor, may also find it interesting for the themes prog rock connections.

  2. No I don't remember this at all - even when I see the opening titles. I've never been very keen on anything related to gangsters, particularly British gangsters - which may explain why this completely passed me by.

Yeah, pretty neat chord changes there.

Chris Farlow as in the fat comedian guy who died a few years ago?

Nothing to do with comedy and he's still alive, blue eyed soul/blues singer.

Love that track though. Dave Greenslade is the prog rock connection ( check out wiki )

  4. I couldn't find a clip of it in YouTube, but a Spanish composer by the name of Jose Luis Merlin did a quite nice of instrumental work titled "Progressiones Para Pauline". Worth a hear, I feel.

There are some other videos on YouTube of him performing works, but I have no headphones; the one titled "Dreams of Horses", has me interested, snce it appears to just be him and a guitar from the thumb nail.

Some other orchestral works I've noted after hearing them on the radio and thinking they were too good to simply forget:

Suite from "Livre de St. Aphrodise" (appearently extremely rare and almost impossible to find on CD; indeed, a Google search was not so great; the artist is lost to time)

Jean-Dominique Pasquet: Notturno for Trumpet and Organ.

    "Vocalise" (Sony 62004)

    "Legends" (Naxos 550267)

"Concerto for Guitar" (Carlos Laguna on guitar)
    By: Lalo Schifrin
Who says he can't pull off more than what he's known for? Though not harsh and disonent, it had a number of colorful and refreshing orchestrations, much like "Dragonslayer", and a similar style of writing inbetween the guitar playing.

    "The Fiddler's Child"
    By: Sumarovo Dite
I hope this is it (no headphones): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kubUxva2IGg

Already posted this earlier in the thread with a link: "Butterfly's Day Out" (Mark O'Connor)

    Very funky!

Speaking of funky, I dig this Shpongle remix of "A New Way to Say Hooray":

Speaking of Toshihiko Sahashi, this might be the piece that kicks the most butt in the history of butt-kicking. Turn up the volume.

Glad to hear it. smile The whole album is extraordinary. I wish more film score fans were familiar with it, as this is the stuff film score fan dreams are made of.

  5. You are right! That is the stuff my dreams are made of. punk So much splendid music coming from the far east, and we have only scratched the surface.

Not familiar at all with anime scores, but I have an increased interest in videogame related music coming from that side of the world... Like Final Fantasy XIII (see my Now Playing post from earlier today).
"considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G.
  6. How about video-game related anime music? Pokemon has some great music. A good amount of the pieces of music used in the show are orchestrated adaptions of music from the video games.
Like this... becomes this in the show. There's also gigantic amount of original orchestrated music. All of the music is composed and arranged by Shinji Miyazaki.

Here are a couple more of my favorites.

    Let's Tag Battle!

    The Final Path

    To the Space-Time Tower

You could also check out the Super Mario Galaxy series. XD
  7. I really enjoyed this -- I assume it's modern classical work:

Glad you liked it. I highly recommend that Sahashi album (Gundam SEED). It's a dream album from start to finish.
