SCORE NOMINATED FOR THE INTERNATIONAL FILM MUSIC CRITICS ASSOCIATION AWARD FOR ‘BEST DOCUMENTARY MUSIC’

Acclaimed composer Fernando Velázquez’ score for Edmon Roch’s exciting documentary about “The Man Who Saved the World” – counterspy Joan Pujol, also known as Garbo - is a beautifully engaging chamber jazz score which is built around an infectious main theme.

Velázquez builds his variations around this theme with a small jazz combo and a small chamber orchestra, resulting in a score that is as quirky and unique as the film’s main character himself. The album also features a couple of songs by RiP and also Velazquez’s own song ‘Mars in Ball” with the composer himself on vocals.

    Track titles:
1 The Man Who Saved the World 1.34
    2 Garbo: The Spy 1.58
    3 Spanish Civil War 1.30
    4 Don Quijote 0.47

Ah, Fernando; such a gifted composer; everything i've heard from him 'till now was very interesting to say the least, i am definitely looking forward to this.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

Which was why I used a "lick" smilie when I mentioned I'd seen this listed on Amazon a couple of days ago. This score was talked about a while back and I really enjoyed the suite of music that was, at that time, available to listen to on YouTube.

My iniital interest has been tempered after having listened to the full set of clips. A bit too many "quirky" tracks for my taste to warrant getting this. But I may purchase 1-2 tracks sometime in the future when I get the urge to just buy something.

  2. I don't expect I'll be purchasing the whole CD's worth of tracks.
