    100 Greatest Film Themes Take 2 is the fifth release in Silva Screen’s “100” series and featuring the very best of 70 years of music from the silver screen.

    This comprehensive compilation opens with the exciting Asteroid – The Pearl & Dean Theme and features such cult classics as Bernard Herrmann’s awesome music for Citizen Kane, The James Bond Theme, The Sound Of Music and Shaft as well as more contemporary scores such as Avatar, The Dark Knight, Slumdog Millionaire and Twilight.

    The 6 CD set will be available in stores on July 13, 2010.

    Apparently not. I thought it was the cheesy sci fi flick from a few years back.

    No trip to the cinema ( at least in Britain...and I believe, the USA? ) was complete without this tune, it was an introduction to advertisments before the main feature, it's become a legend of cinema culture.

    Ah gotcha. Never seen or heard of it before. Seems strange to include something so culture-specific for a worldwide release, though....

    Maybe? But to us it's like the 20th Century Fox/Warner Brothers/MGM logos rolled into one as a definition of being at the cinema eagerly awaiting for the pic to start.

    I think that it's a great way to start that compilation.

    It's such a part of the cinema experience that I have this short cue on my mp3 player - and it's always sung along to by Anne and myself when it plays.
