Btw I just noticed that the full festival pass does NOT include Bear McCreary!
This modality does not include special events within the Festival (Fraternity meal, "The Bear McCreary Chronicles: A Chamber Concert" or any activity that the organization considers to meet this special nature, etc ...).

It's another 15EUR for attendants. rolleyes slant

when do we have to pay that?

  5. If somebody understands the irritating webpage of the Ubeda festival and can tell me how to pay the 15 Euro's for Bear's concert, could he or she please step forward?

I want to know as well because I want a ticket as well, but I'm not in the mood to bother with the setup of it at the moment. Perhaps one needs to contact the festival again by mail?

Good luck with that. I sure never got a response re: press accreditation.

I'd love to visit this festival some day (and it looks like a spectacular venue), but they DO need to professionalize a few things (website, communications).

I guess. But there's a thin line between 'charming' and 'annoying' in relation to how things are organized. It isn't very charming to not get a response on important mails, when the website doesn't have the info you're looking for (and has some pages with info from previous festivals or when they've screwed up your ticket reservations or whatever).

I mean, I have a friend who hosts a big garden party "festival" every summer, and while she certainly isn't professional, it always runs smoothly, with great communication etc. Sure, a festival like this is bigger, but you also have more people and several years of experience now.

I don't know. Maybe it's just sour grapes, but I see no reason why a small, slightly quirky festival isn't supposed to be more professionalized as an EVENT nonetheless.

I still don't think it makes any sense to have two European film music events, when you could have one giant one.

TWO? There are, to my knowledge, at least 6-7 events across the continent, although none in Scandinavia, unfortunately.

But it does make sense to have them in different countries, as you're then able to tap into the unique context and surroundings of that country. This isn't always easy to understand for Americans, but Europe isn't one big nation or 'entity' with many states, it's a continent with very different nations and cultural codes.

I think the different locations and cultures are part of the charm, so I'm glad it's not one big festival; but different small or cosy and interesting cities. Ghent (great city), Krakow, Ubeda (lovely town!), Tenerife, Birmingham (this year at least) and Cardiff... All are in a very different region and culture.
