Does anyone else ever you the name of a score when they use a pun. I have two examples:

-I was recently talking to a European friend (huge Zimmer fan) who was going to watch the Superbowl. He asked if "there's anything he should know before watching the game". I said "It's rather hard to explain the game when we're A World Apart" (The pun behind that Zimmer's first big breakthrough score was A World Apart).

-When I wrote on Hans Zimmer's Facebook (he's not actually him using it anymore) for his birthday. "May you keep writing with the skill that many great composers have when they are in A League of Their Own" (The pun behind that Zimmer scored a movie of the same title).
Revenge is sweet... Revenge is best served cold... Revenge is ice cream.
  1. Graeme Revell scores "Blow".

James Horner does "All the King's Men".

I have a thread about this, I think.

  2. Ah, yes -- from a 2006 ScoreReviews thread (thankfully I saved it):

Rachel Portman does "Benny & Joon"

    Goldsmith remembers "First Knight"

Anne Dudley does "Dirty Pretty Things"

John Murphy creates "The Perfect Score"

    John Williams gets "Geisha"

    and the funniest for last:

    Graeme Revell scores "Blow"
Teddy Castellucci scores "My Super Ex-Girlfriend"
    Desplat does "The Queen"

Rolfe Kent does "You, Me & Dupree" (naughty, naughty, naughty)
Aaron Zigman scores The Martian Child. (from member: Devoe)
James Horner does "All the King's Men"

  3. Wanna go naughty?

James Horner does the Karate Kid
Hans Zimmer scores Gladiator (Hannibal, Angels and Demons, Pirates of the Caribbean...)

Danny Elfman does Red Dragon (that's actually kind of disturbing biggrin )

I always wondered if the track titles on Leviathan don't feature some of Jerry's not-so-good-natured humor:

    Final sequence:
    Too Hot
    It's Growing
    A Lot Better

    Umm... lol

    Woody Pak

  11. http://www.filmmusicmedia.com/interview … kimplanert

Composer Kim Planert is a fantastic new talent in the score world. He has worked under Robert Duncan who composes hit TV series like Castle, Lie To Me and The Unit. All of which Kim composed additional music for. Kim is now co-composing Missing with Robert Duncan. We talk about the journey that led him to Los Angeles and how he met Robert. We also discuss the TV scoring schedule and what his and Robert's goal was for Missing musically. Missing premieres Thursday, March 15th at 8pm on ABC.

Would it be wrong if I said "Kim works under Duncan on The Unit"?

  12. After Woody Pak, I now bring you a new name. This one is a little mroe open to interpretation. Pretend you are saying it in a fairly heavy German accent and to me it sounds a little dirty:

    Fok Sai-Kit

She's a musician (couple small pictures online -- looks nice). A short bio describes her as "Electronic erhu abuser" -- which sounds like it would make a hell of a listen. But I don't see a personal site for her or any Youtube videos to listen to, so all I got to go by is that wording.

  13. Okay, so we have Chris P. Bacon, or "Chrispy Bacon". So I stumbled upon a composer who's working with Bacon, sometimes doing additional music. His name is SO close, so close to making a combo joke.

    His name: Gad Emile Zeitune

If only hie middle and first name were switched around, then I could say:

    E. Gad! Chrispy Bacon!

  14. I have just seen another composer name: Steven Wacks.

And listed under his "alternate names": Steve Whacks

I'm imaging an epic porno tri-scored by Thomas Wanker, Chris P. Bacon, and Steve Whacks.

  15. I know you'll think I'm making this up, so I'm linking to it. Introducing composer Roddy Bottum:

Just one letter away from an epic name.

  16. This one looks kind of dirty: Nathan Waks.

  17. Not score related, but I was surprised to learn there is not only one, not just two, but at least three people on IMDb named Bud Wiser.

  18. I don't know how I missed this all this time, but there's a dirctor and actor named Peter Bonerz.
The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else.
  19. I don't want to ever hear Thomas Wanker complain his last name is Wanker, when not one but two people on IMDb have most unfortunate first and last names combos:

    Jack Wiener
