Life of Pi is a very good score but I just don't see how Danna, or anyone else for that matter, can win composer of the year based on one score alone. -

A rather boring list. I'd go for Marco Beltrami as Best composer and Gravity for Best Score.Kazoo -
- CommentTimeAug 13th 2014
Pff, i'd go for no score in that list..Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -
- CommentTimeAug 13th 2014
Indeed. What a weird choice of contenders. GRAVITY is heads and shoulders above any of the other nominees.I am extremely serious. -
- CommentTimeAug 13th 2014
of all the score mentione here, Gravity, Rhush, Man of Steel and Godzilla are the only ones that I am familiar with. The Grand Budapest Hotel is on my maybe-list.
VolkerBach's music is vibrant and inspired. -

Are the nominees for best composer based on quantity rather than quality because that's what it looks like for a lot of the contenders. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Fuck sake! That's an awful list.
IMO, obviously. But 12YAS...really?? -

Maybe they are thinking ahead to who would possibly be a good candidate for turning up at next year's event if they won?The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Yeah, I often dread this policy with WSA.
I remember last year, there was talks about Thomas Newman coming THIS year (as he visited as a "tourist" last year), but that never came into fruition.
I'm kinda waiting for more guests to be announced, as Cliff Martinez -- great as he is -- is a kinda skimpy roster in and of itself. I'm not expecting every year to be like 2010, 2011 and 2012, but with the competition from other festivals, and the name WSA holds internationally, I always expect a bit more.I am extremely serious. -

• Steven Price: ‘The World’s End’
• Patrick Cassidy: ‘Calvary’
• Jérôme Lemonnier: La Chair de Ma Chair’ & ‘Zum Geburtstag’Kazoo -

Again a rather curious selection, but my vote goes to Cassidy's CALVARY. Gorgeous score (even though I know D disagrees)!I am extremely serious. -
- CommentTimeSep 15th 2014
Haven't heard anything else in this list, but boy if they're as "good" as Calvary, then that's a shitty list Go listen to David Hirschfelder: THE RAILWAY MAN if you want to hear to some beautiful, sentimental music.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Steven Price for The World's End but not the Oscar-winning Gravity? If that doesn't constitute a "discovery" then I don't know what does! -

The World's End? Weird. You can hear a lot of the same sound-manipulation type stuff that goes on in Gravity but done in a much "quirkier" way. It's well-done but I found it a pretty tough listen, actually, and without the redemptive highlights that Gravity had. -
- CommentTimeSep 15th 2014 edited
Thanks Ed It's definitely not for me then 'cause i can't stand Gravity (film and score) either, except for the final 2 tracks: "Shenzou", "Gravity"Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

But yes, weird selection indeed!Kazoo -

Public awarded The Hobit: The Desolation of Smaug by Howard Shore? My that must have been a rather 'slow' part of the public The rest i have no idead, apart the very good PRISONERS. Anyone who heard the other 3 and can comment?Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

You're picking on the one vote that actually makes a smidgeon of sense? -

Can we make a summary of the composers who are confirmed and who might come (rumors)? -

Of the two I am not familiar with, Metro Manila is available on iTunes and Marina is available as a CD from Belgium. I am assuming that they are all available on Spotify? The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn
