Reel Music blog

I've opened up a Wordpress blog today that I'm going to see if I can maintain. It's really just a one-stop-shop for all the various "projects" I have been doing over the years that's related to film music. Reviews (music and book), thoughts/comments, cue-by-cue notes, random Ten Track listings, etc.
My main place I will be visiting and commenting on will still be here but I want to have somewhere where I can put things that aren't really suitable for a messageboard.
The Reel Music site is here: http://reelmusic.wordpress.com/
Take a look if you have time, comment (here or there) if you wish. I'd value any feedback you want to share (layout, formatting, issues, even content). The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

I am not sure where it is going to go at the moment. For now it is a place for my various "contributions" to various sites past and present.
I am not close enough to the business to offer any insights from that perspective, but I can just comment on things from the point of view of an enthusiast. Whether anyone would find that interesting, we will see.
An outlet for score reviews is served well here but I have read 15 or so books on film music so that may be something to do. If I can remember what I thought of them all!The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

I had 200 views yesterday (that would include my own) which was nice. So far number of views is 11.
Hoping that content and regular updates will lead to a decent regular view count. And I am hoping to get some comments to blog posts. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Just keep it fresh adding material daily if possible. If people like it they'll bookmark and return. If not it will be like Golden Scores.listen to more classical music! -

I like the briefness of your reviews, Alan. I've long since desired that out there in film score review land. Just a single paragraph or two with the basics.
(eh....strike that. I see that your reviews go on once you click "read more", sorry about that)I am extremely serious. -

Maybe that is a place for "capsule reviews"?The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

This may be a bit too geeky for some but I've uploaded an old cue-by-cue listing for Howard Shore's eXistenZ:
http://reelmusic.wordpress.com/2011/06/ … ard-shore/
It's a bit too grand to call it an "analysis" but the whole point of this was to get a better idea of what was happening in terms of on-screen action whilst listening to the music. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

I had a busy week and hadn't looked at your site yet Alan. Finally it's there! I added it to my bookmarks. Will check out this weekend. Thanks for linking to MainTitles.
Tom, about Golden Scores, we'll get it resurrected one day. Sorry for that.Kazoo -

Yes, I do. It's a good recording - as everyone knows - but I do find myself listening to the originals more. But the release you mention is a great starter for new Herrmann listeners. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

It's one of the finest re-recordings of all time! And when it coems down to Herrmann I would rather listen to shorter re-recorded suites than complete original soundtrack recordings.

It is great that there's so many suites to choose from. The main thing is that as many people as possible are listening to such a composing great. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

A bit of an unusual one this - and a score I have had for several years.
