SILVA SCREEN RECORDS PRESENTS
FILM MUSIC OF HANS ZIMMER VOL.2
This comprehensive 2 CD is a follow up to Silva Screen’s 2007 release The Essential Hans Zimmer Film Music Collection.
Scoring for over 100 films Hans Zimmer is one of the film world’s most prolific A-list contemporary composers. Amongst the first film score composers to integrate the electronic musical world with traditional orchestral arrangements, Zimmer’s name is today synonymous with the Hollywood blockbuster and indeed the Top Ten highest grossing movies of all time bear Zimmer’s touch.
This double album features a variety of Zimmer’s classic scores with the addition of his more recent successes, “Mutiny” (Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Strangers Tides), “Discombobulate” (Sherlock Holmes), “Aggressive Expansion” (The Dark Knight), as well as classic tracks from box office hits such as “This Land” (The Lion King), “Red Sea” (The Prince Of Egypt) and “Davy Jones” (Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest) to name a few.

From what I've read about the music of the series:
He wrote two demos of the theme, one of them was too dark for the main title sequence, but suddenly it ended up to be perfect for the Iwo Jima scenes and the original demo was recorded and put in the series.
The second demo was arranged by Neely and that's what ended up to be the track Honor as we know it. That is, the Americana sound of it may be DEFINITELY Blake Neely's doing, because when I talked to Hans about The Thin Red Line a few months back, he told me that Copland did appear in discussions (that is pure Americana) and Hans immediately disagreed with doing that, because it's not who he is.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

The melody though is Zimmer's, so he got a credit for it.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

7. Spirit: Stallion Of The Cimarron - Homeland
Is it a new recording with an orchestra?
Then I'm interested in this particular track...Labels are for cans, not people. - Anthony Rapp -

Yes, that's how Prague Philharmonic re-recording sets work. It's a reorchestration too.
That's why I don't really believe in the Silva stuff, whoever decided to re-record and reorchestrate Why So Serious should be shot...http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

It's a new recording but it's performed by London Music Works... like a majority of the tracks on this album. There are only 8 tracks on the two CD set performed by the Prague Orchestra.

I don't think they are an orchestra. I can't find any info about who they are on-line but my best guess would be that they are a synth/sample audio production house.

In all the London Music Works pieces I have heard they concentrate on more synth-heavy themes, etc. So I have always assumed they don't have too much of an input from live players. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -
