FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LAKESHORE RECORDS TO RELEASE THE SCORE FOR THE WEINSTEIN COMPANY’S NEW COMEDY
I DON’T KNOW HOW SHE DOES IT
Original Score Album Features Aaron Zigman’s Score
(September 8, 2011- Los Angeles, CA) – Lakeshore Records will release the I Don’t Know How She Does It -- Original Score Album available digitally on October 11th and in stores on November 1, 2011. The score is written by composer Aaron Zigman (The Notebook, Sex and the City).
Aaron Zigman is a dynamic force in Hollywood. His name is synonymous with such hugely successful films as The Notebook, Sex and the City, Bridge To Terabithia, and The Proposal. With scores that embody the care and precision he is known for, he tackles themes that can only resonate so powerfully through the poetry of his music.
Zigman began his classical training early, studying piano at the age of six. As his innate talents flourished he quickly found recognition. While still in college, he received a four-year songwriting contract from publishing giant Almo Irving, a remarkable feat at such a young age. Soon, he began writing, producing and arranging for premier artists and producers including Clive Davis, Ray Charles, Steely Dan, Aretha Franklin, Phil Collins, Seal, Patti LaBelle, Tina Turner, Chicago, Natalie Cole, and Christina Aguilera. It was through the pop music world that he first began his film career, penning featured songs and orchestrating for such films as Mulan, What’s Love Got to Do With It, The Birdcage, License to Kill, and Pocahontas.
Zigman’s desire to fall back into the classical world lead him to film scoring. In 2000, acclaimed film director Nick Cassavetes heard Zigman’s symphonic tone poem, “Rabin,” which was composed in memory of the late prime minister of the State of Israel. Cassavetes was so moved that he asked Zigman to score the Denzel Washington feature, John Q, which turned out a major critical success. This film lead him to work again with Cassavetes on the box office hit The Notebook, a soundtrack that has sold a record breaking number of albums.
His composing abilities quickly gained notoriety with distinguished projects like Akeelah and the Bee and Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, which he co-scored with Alexandre Desplat. The unique flavor of his music comes from a background that is equally accomplished in both the classical and pop world, a sound that served him well on films like Step Up (1 & 2), Alpha Dog, My Sister’s Keeper, and The Ugly Truth. You can look forward to hearing more from Zigman in the much-anticipated New Regency comedy What’s Your Number? starring Anna Faris and Chris Evans.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Greg Kinnear, Pierce Brosnan, Christina Hendricks, Kelsey Grammer, Seth Meyers, Olivia Munn, Jane Curtin and Mark Blum star in the comedy I Don’t Know How She Does It, directed by Douglas McGrath (Emma, Infamous). Based on the critically acclaimed bestseller by Allison Pearson, I Don’t Know How She Does It follows the long days and sleep-deprived nights of Kate Reddy (Parker), a Boston-based working mother trying desperately to juggle marriage, children, and a high-stress job.
The Weinstein Company presents I Don’t Know How She Does It in theaters on September 16, 2011. I Don’t Know How She Does It – Original Motion Picture Score on Lakeshore Records will be released digitally on October 11th and in stores on November 1, 2011.
