  2. Looking at the Copyright Information sent out with My Week With Marilyn, Alexandre Desplat is listed in just as many tracks as Conrad Pope is in terms of copyright.

    Alexandre Desplat: 1, 6, 7, 9, 12, 13, 16, 21, 22, 25
    Conrad Pope: 3, 4, 5, 10, 14, 15, 18, 20, 23, 24, 26

Does that mean that using Desplat's theme in Pope's score assigns the track to Desplat?

  3. I think so. It seems like they're assigning the cues with Desplat's theme.

Without now knowing who did it I'd have guessed some obscurity by Mario Nascimbene listening to that.

Schifrin....hmmm....I dunno. Schifrin is generally a bit more avant garde in his jazz.

Schifrin, like Quincy Jones and Michel Legrand can apply himself to any kind of jazz.

Desplat wrote the MARILYN theme for the movie. Whenever that theme was used in a track he was given credit. There were Pope arrangements to material he didn't write such as Track 26. Track 6 according to your information is false. Desplat wrote part of it but the latter half was written by neither composer. The last part was Quiet Village written by Les Baxter. Apparently the Baxter estate gave permission, didn't care, or are unaware. Pope in his arrangements made heavy use of the main theme so it is somewhat mixed up.
An interesting sidebar is the movie I watched the other night "Where The Sidewalk Ends" used the theme Street Scene, composed be Alfred Newman. He was given no credit confused

  4. I like how my information is "false". I am quoting directly from Sony's copyright information. Maybe I copied the details down wrongly.

There are two separate PR releases for this great score that somehow got mixed up. The one that came with the download from Sony was wrong.

    1. Marilyn's theme (Composer Alexandre Desplat; Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope)
    Performer: Lang Lang
    2. 'When love goes wrong, Nothin' Goes Right' & 'Heat Wave' - Medley
    Performer: Michelle Williams
    3. Colin Runs off to the Circus (Composer/Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope)
    4. Colin Joins the Circus/Mr. Jacobs (Composer/Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope)
    5. Driving through Pinewood (Composer/Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope) Performer: Lang Lang
    6. Paparazzi (Composer Alexandre Desplat; Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope)
    Piano: Lang Lang
    7. Colin and Vivian (Composer Alexandre Desplat; Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope)
    8. Memories Are Made Of This (Composer Frank Miller / Richard Dehr / Terry Gilkyson - Lyricist Frank Miller)
    Performer: Dean Martin
    9. Rushes (Composer Alexandre Desplat; Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope)
    10. Lucy (Composer/Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope)
    11. Uno, Dos, Tres (Composer Daniel Indart / Composer Jesus A. Perez-Alvarez)
    Performer: La Tropicana Orchestra
    12. Arthur and Marilyn (Composer Alexandre Desplat; Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope)
    13. Marilyn Alone (Composer Alexandre Desplat; Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope)
    Piano: Lang Lang
    14. Arthur's Notebook (Composer/Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope)
    15. Vivian Screens Marilyn (Composer/Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope)
    16. The Getaway (Composer Alexandre Desplat; Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope)
    17. You Stepped Out Of A Dream Performer: Nat King Cole
    18. Eton Schoolyard (Composer/Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope)
    19. Autumn Leaves Performer: Nat King Cole
    20. Overdose (Composer/Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope)
    21. Colin's Heartbreak (Composer Alexandre Desplat; Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope)
    22. Colin and Marilyn (Composer Alexandre Desplat; Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope)
    23. It's a Wrap, I found a Dream - Medley (Composer/Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope)
Performer: Michelle Williams / Lang Lang
    24. Such Stuff That Dreams Are Made of (Composer Conrad Pope)
    25. Remembering Marilyn (Composer Alexandre Desplat; Orchestrator/Arranger Conrad Pope)
    Piano: Lang Lang
    26. That Old Black Magic Performer: Michelle Williams

The answer to your question that you asked is yes. This second attempt is still wrong but better. Track 26 and 2 were arranged/orchestrated by Pope but written by neither Desplat or Pope. Johnny Mercer/Harold Arlen were the composers of Black Magic, Carmichael, Berlin, & Adamson for Heat Wave etc. Even though the Marilyn theme wasn't necessarily the dominant theme in the cue if it appears it's Desplat.

Track 6 was Quiet Village/Les Baxter but nothing is mentioned. This I don't understand.
