    Very nice samples, Samantha!

Although to be a bit more specific, I think you are referring more to music using Arabic scales/intervals.
There are deserts in other countries besides North Africa or Egypt.
Even some American West might qualify as desert music, like Jerry Fielding's CHATO'S LAND.
(although CHATO'S LAND is not about anything Arabic).

    Are you open to suggestions?

For example, if you love Jerry Goldsmith's THE MUMMY, then perhaps you should check out (if you haven't already) Goldsmith's JUSTINE soundtrack. Both JUSTINE and THE MUMMY are set in 1930s Egypt! smile

    Death Valley = AWESOME!

As for desert music I'll go with Ennio Morricone and Maurice Jarre over wailing women.

Thanks for bringing up Ansel Adams. Had a look on what he did and some of it is fabulous! Always black and white?

  2. Partition by Brian Tyler and Hidalgo by James Newton Howard are my favorites. Tyler should do more stuff like Partition.

The Ennio Morricone Sahara thingy, the Clint Mansell's Sahara thingy, and Harry Gregson William's Prince of Persia / Kingdom of Heaven.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
