Ah, lovely news. Are those release dates for the score albums or the movies?

I wonder if this will show up on iTunes as some of Rombi's other foreign scores. I hate paying import prices.

If there's anyone who can still share the magic and grace of Morriconne and Delerue in his writing, that would be Rombi. Gorgeous.

I was about to say something to the same effect as what I already said in the post above 3 months ago, then upon reading it decided to actually check iTunes, and discovered that the album is in fact available for 10.99 USD. smile

  1. Is this score on the same level as Angel, Un Homme et son Chien, etc.?

Excellent news as Philippe Rombi is once again scoring for his long-time friend and collaborator: Francois Ozon, for whom he usually delivers small wonderful gems each time. Can't wait. I would like to recommend all Rombi fans to check out his new score to a film entitled Une Nouvelle Amie (which, apparently, translates to "The New Girlfriend"). It's a beautiful work in the vein of Un Homme et Son Chien.

It is very nice. I wouldn't say it's quite as good as A Man and His Dog, as we say in the Queen's English, but certainly another typically romantic and pleasant Rombi score.

Perhaps he should score Godzilla 2?

Has anyone heard his Asterix: Le Domain des Dieux score from this year?

Yes, it's quite an enjoyable score overall. I'm not as enthusiastic about it as I was initially because of the - I'm not sure how to describe it since there's many interpretations of what "mickey-mouse scoring" actually means - but it seems to mirror the on-screen action too closely in the music and can be too comedic for my own tastes.

But, there are some great orchestral pieces in the soundtrack.

Didn't care much for UNE NOUVELLE AMIE, but I'm curious about ASTERIX.
    I am extremely serious.

Me neither. I found Asterix much more the enjoyable album.
