Some of you might have seen that I've created a thread for this (and the Horner one) at FSM, but right now there aren't many more attending than what we already know.
In any case, I was wondering about the dinner before the concert.
As we remember from the Morricone concert in 2009, there were hardly any restaurants or pubs near the RAH (which is somewhat of a scandal, IMO). So my suggestion is that we find some place near the High Street Kensington or South Kensington stations, and then walk the 15 minutes to the concert hall from there.
Any suggestions?
I have a feeling that High Street K. is more busy than South K., so maybe it's easier to find a restaurant there.I am extremely serious. -

I've also set the 'sign up' deadline to September 24th. After that, we book tables. We should be at least 2 weeks in advance, as I'm sure the restaurants in the vicinity are getting booked this day.I am extremely serious. -

I don't mind if it's in walking distance, so you can count me in.
but restaurant booking and searching I'll leave to you, if that's okaywaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh -

That's OK.I am extremely serious. -

Both are walkable. High Street Ken is likely to be cheaper than South Ken.
There are a couple of pubs near the RAH, but one is crap and other is tiny! -
- CommentTimeAug 22nd 2013
Jim, do you per chance know about any good restaurants in the High Street Ken area?I am extremely serious. -
- CommentTimeAug 22nd 2013
Count me in unless you eat at Michelin restaurants! :pKazoo -

I've been doing some restaurant searching in the High Street Ken area. Prices for dinner range from slighly below £20 to about £30. What is everyone's price range?
If you like Indian (I know I do), there's a place called Zaika:

I also like the look of Maggie Jones:

Maggie Jones looks good, but I like Indian food as well. So both are good enough for mewaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh -

Jordi is coming to the concert. Marcel is not.
Also Joris, who Thor might have met last year.
Did you make any reservations yet Thor?
So that's Thor, Thomas, Jordi, Joris, Tim (Burden) and Jim who'll be there?Kazoo -

No, I haven't made any reservations yet. The deadline is September 15th. I'll add Jordi & Joris to the list. I wasn't aware that Tim was attending the get-together? I haven't received any words from him, at least.

And now Jordi is apparently off again, according to his latest facebook update. That man....
Oh well. Still plenty of room for the Elfman dinner -- as opposed to the Vienna/Horner dinner, which is almost booked with 25 people!I am extremely serious. -

Hmm. Already talked to Bregt about this, but I'm seriously thinking about going. Will make a decision this weekend. -

Jordi is on again.
Bob, Marcel's ticket has been sold, so you'll have to find one yourself. Ticketmaster still sells ticket for more expensive seats though. Also on Ebay you might find some.Kazoo -

Bob, I have a ticket available as I now have to fly out for a job on the day of the concert. My flight leaves only a few hours before the concert which is a bit of a bummer but such is life. Still definitely attending the Horner in Vienna concert though about which I'm very excited! -

Great!
I just realized I need to discuss this at work first just to secure I can take the time off, but if possible and you don't have any other takers, I'd probably like to buy it from you. Any good seats? -

The deadline was yesterday, so I have 13 people on the confirmed list.
I want to go ahead and book a restaurant now.
While Maggie Jones does indeed look cozy, it looks a bit small. Zaika is a better alternative, I think, even though the prices are a bit steeper (I think you can get a good main dish meal, a naan bread and something to drink for £25 -- that's not too bad, at least not in Norwegian terms).
Tim, Joris, Bob etc. -- VERY last chance to sign up now; otherwise I'll book within the next few hours.I am extremely serious. -

Thor, you got my pm?
Any +1s joining the dinner too? -
- CommentTimeSep 16th 2013
For some reason, your PM didn't show up. Saw it now. I'll add you and a +1 to the list.I am extremely serious. -

Oh, don't count on me for dinner! I was talking about the concert. Since my manager isn't in this week, it'll be difficult to prepare for a leave these days, but I'll try... -
- CommentTimeSep 17th 2013
OK.
Zaika was fully booked.
I shot off a mail to Maggie Jones now. Let's see if they respond. It would of course have been easier if I'd lived in England and could give them a call.I am extremely serious.
