  1. Carruth (of PRIMER fame) has gone the Carpenter route and insists on scoring his own films, though by admission he's not a composer or even a musician.

Still, the score for his latest, UPSTREAM COLOR, has surfaced for streaming and is quite lovely in its way.

I say for Thor because I know this is right in his wheelhouse. For others, perhaps less so.

I thought he was obtuse in the interview to the point of being pretentious, but to be fair I haven't seen the film yet. Either it works or it doesn't, and that remains to be seen. If you've seen the trailer, the score certainly fits aesthetically with the dreamy, translucent landscape Carruth is going for.
  2. Goodness! Carruth doesn't feature at all here and then two posts appear in the space of a few hours!

I have seen the trailer Mike, and I know what you mean about the music seeming to fit in with the dreamy nature of the film.

  3. Whoops, sorry I did a search but missed that post! I figure it's worth it to get a relatively new filmmaker/composer his own thread.

I think that it's good for him to have a separate thread - though I don't think that it will stay prominent for very long!

Thanks for the heads-up, Mike. I'll check it out when I've sobered up and rested.
    I am extremely serious.
