Not surprisingly, considering the only release I know of is an obscure hard-to-get CD compilation of his work, this is the first time Paul Lewis has got his own thread and for me there can be no better time considering the up-coming release from Silva of his brilliant score to the 1972 TV series ARTHUR OF THE BRITONS

I suspect many people will just pass this by but you do so at risk of missing out on TV scoring of the very highest quality.

  1. Looking forward to hearing an expanded representation of this score.

According to one poster at FSM there was over 80 minutes of music written for the show, much of it re-used ( a-la Star Trek TOS )

  2. Looks good.

One thing that is interesting is this quote from Silva:

"The insistence of the American co-producers to have a title theme provided by Elmer Bernstein is an added bonus."

It sounds almost that Silva didn't plan on or want to include Bernstein's track! Maybe it added to the costs having such a prominent name on the release? Or maybe they just didn't think that they could get it.

I don't think they mean an added bonus as in a bonus track. I think they mean a bonus as in something that was beneficial to the score itself.
  4. Yeah, I realised that. Reading the quote it sounds (to me) as though the inclusion of the main theme almost forced on Silva!

Even not knowing the series, there's a pretty high chance of me getting this (I really liked the few outtakes on the Paul Lewis compilation CD).

I know the full scores very well and I think there's a lot that you'll enjoy, this is firmly in the category of great TV scoring.

  5. I must be the only one who's not heard a lick of the scoring.
