  1. I had been slowly working on two or three label entries for catalogues, since wikipedia had deleted some, like La La Land Records, but I see somebody has already started a site for such information.

    en.scorepedia.org

I saw this thanks for a JWFan post about it.

Anybody using this? I can't find anywhere on the site where to register (you have to be registered to make additions and changes). The JWFan post mentions registering but neither it nor the Scorepedia site say anything about that being down or disabled at the moment.

    listen to more classical music!
  2. I've never contributed to Wikipedia, but isn't this Scorepedia just an off-shoot of Wikipedia? And can't anyone add something just like with Wikipedia?

I don't know. I have had no experience of contributing to a Wikipedia-type site and so I wouldn't know where to begin.

  4. There has to be some way to "sign up" to Wikepedia?

  5. Somebody is laughing maniacly out there.

SoundtrackCollector is nice, but he only takes some updates, very slow to include updates, and SoundtrackCollector doesn't let you do the kinds of things something like Scorepedia would, like create one-page listing for a label, or a one-page overall view of a composer (which can be more properly maintained and updated than IMDb).

  6. This is what I understand:

You cannot "sign up" to Wikipedia as it is an open project. Everybody can contribute and the community will evaluate what you have written. Wikipedia is run by a foundation. On that level there is something like "becoming a member". They form a body - a kind of parliament - that takes basic decisions. I imagine that you have to be a long time contributer to get there.

Software-wise, the wiki-code is open-source. You can download it and get it installed on another server. Something like word-press really.

That's right. On the discussion page they will show your user name instead of your IP.
