I'm revisiting this fine CD from 1985 which was from an early digital lp recorded by Soundstream in 1978. Not included on the LP due to space limitations but included on the CD are two Star Wars selections. I was reading a bit about Soundstream and realized that the CD, which is on its way out, is only 30 years old. Review is in the making.

Shouldn't this be in the Now Playing thread?

In this case I don't think so because I want to discuss the history of the digital process.

I thought you wanted to discuss Morton Gould's Digital Space?

One of the companies who was quick to see the possibilities in what Soundstream had to offer were Woods and Renner who were to become the Telarc company and I think some of us know the wonderful recordings that they did with Eric Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. They are some of the finest sounding CD's in my collection!

The original tape drive system was a product of Honeywell and it offered 18 tracks using 1" Ampex tape at a speed of 35IPS.

Can you name the first Hollywood movie studio to purchase one?

After completing my review of Digital Space the CD stopped working. All it played was a series of annoying pops and clicks in some random fashion. I noticed on the edge of the CD that it had turned a slight yellow color. This is now the fourth CD that I have that has failed all of them in the nearly 30 year old time frame.
