As Timmer's thread on "YOUR ALL TIME FAVOURITE FILM SCORE ALBUMS" has reached its ceiling @ # 50, I wish to deposit my 2nd group of 50 titles into its own thread here (so as not to derail Timmer's topic).

In order to create my initial top 50, I started with 92 faves and ranked them to determine if they fell into position before or after #50. So I continued onwards to arrive at my top 100 smile

There's no individual discussions on the following titles, merely a listing to see how soundtracks and some composers 'dropped out' from my top 50.
I don't expect MT members to have a handy list of their top 100s, but if anybody does have such items already 'thought out' they are welcome to put their lists here too.

I'll have to give proper consideration as I'm 'openly' sure to about 80 but need to think on another 20.

  1. I think I'll prepare short annotations, like Martijn did, and list about 10 scores at a time. I'll think about it.

Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.

Hmmm....I was more prepared to do a random listing of all the titles that only BARELY didn't make it -- much like what Volker suggests above -- as I have not prepared a ranked list of those.
    I am extremely serious.

    yeah

A list for me becomes far more interchangeable after a certain point.

I'd say that except for maybe the top 4-5, the rest of the list is pretty interchangeable already.

Yes, that is true here too. I'm not being very consistent this morning.

    60. THE SAILOR WHO FELL FROM GRACE WITH THE SEA (Johnny Mandel)

Last year, I indicated this Mandel soundtrack as my 60th fave. At that time, I was referring to the Polydor LP which was made (only) in Japan.

The LP-only situation probably meant that MT members did not attempt to investigate this movie and its music (actually, I don't even see a thread here @ MT on Johnny Mandel himself).

Days ago, this situation was rectified by Kritzerland - who announced Mandel's Sailor as available for pre-order on CD.

At least one can listen to samples, even if one is not inclined to purchase.

Hope Timmer (and maybe 1 or 2 other members) will love this score...

I already heard the samples and also listened to some full tracks ( at youtube ), it sounds sumptuous and beautifully melodic, I like, really like, what I heard.

There is definitely a small handful of people at this board who would love this.
