The World Soundtrack Academy has announced the first wave of nominees for the 2016 World Soundtrack Awards in the categories Film Composer of the Year, Best TV Composer and Best Original Song Written Directly for a Film. The winners will be announced at the World Soundtrack Awards & concert on Wednesday, October 19, the closing night of the Ghent International Film Festival. Here are the nominations:

    Award will be presented to Ryuichi Sakamoto, following the festival’s spotlight on Japanese cinema. A selection of his work will be performed by Brussels Philharmonic and the Flemish Radio Choir, conducted by Dirk Brossé. Following the Award Ceremony, a concert will celebrate the best scores for contemporary TV-serie on October 20th 2016.

    OR Williams, would love to see how they handle that line of people standing there for a signature (like they did so poorly with Silvestri)
