It's a darn fine score too, even people who aren't too taken with Rosenman seem to like this one.On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

Just to clarify: it's a complete score release of Laurence Rosenthal's score to the 1981 film and not Djawadi's score for the recent remake. I would have thought. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Yeah, but what's worrying is that I have tracks from Djawadi's score on my favourites list but none from Rosenthal's. There is about 10 - 15 minutes of worth in Djawadi's score, but not much more."considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

So, another Intrada has been solved (titles announced later today, in about eight or so hours from now):
So the two titles of the Golden Age CD are clear now:
Lyn Murray's ON THE THRESHOLD OF SPACE (1956) coupled with Paul Sawtell's THE HUNTERS (1958).The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else. -

The Rosenthal score was definitely BETTER than Djawadi's work, but didn't really impress me as well, I'm afriad.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

I've never really found out what happened but John Barry was the original composer for Clash of The Titans, even the early posters had his name on them.On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -
- CommentTimeDec 13th 2010 edited
You're right, this one does feature Barry as the composer!
http://www.impawards.com/1981/clash_of_ … _ver2.html
This has me interested as well about what happened... After a quick Google, I saw this interview with Barry in which he briefly mentions the project. Not a very spectacular story...:
Ford A. Thaxton: Do you have any recollections of CLASH OF THE TITANS at all? You’re actually named on some of the early posters.
John Barry: I can’t remember for sure. I don’t think I got too involved. I think I may have done some demos on that and they didn’t like the way I was going with it and that was probably it.

I got a good quote about Barry/Titans on my site: rejectedfilmscores.150m.com/list.html
Coming next week from Kritzerland Records:
"Casino Royale" and "Genghis Khan".
He also hints at two Paramount titles which he's giddy about, and says to expect them the first few months of 2011 (pending approval).
Yes ... yes ... keep opening, Paramount vault doors ... yes.....The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else. -

If they'll thoroughly remaster and clean up Casino Royale, I might be tempted.
It's a funktastic score, but the existing recording is absolute pants.'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

Well, according to Kritzerland they have massively remastered Casino Royale's original (damaged) tape sound AND done a remastered LP-to-CD version (so...erm...basically you're getting the same score. Twice).
Anyway, that's enough info for me to take the leap and order it (as I'm really unhappy with my current CD version).
Oh, incidentally, for anyone still interested: at a mere 1000 copies, they are already almost sold out, even though SAEstill offers pre-order copies.
Keeping in mind the very impressive cleaning job on Robocop I let myself be tempted and ordered the remastered Flesh + Blood as well. But it's a bit of a gamble. I'd only "double up" for a very few select composers ( Basil is one of them. Obviously. ), but if I can't hear any difference with my original Prometheus CD, this practice stops immediately. I'm not made out of money, and I'll be happy to settle with "good enough".'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

I would seriously hope that one of the Goldsmith's will be THE LIST OF ADRIAN MESSENGER, I shall have to wait and see?
As for a John Barry, I'll take whatever is offered, though I would hope it's HOWARD THE DUCK, GOODBYE LOVER or THE GOLDEN CHILD.
if it's THE BLACK HOLE someone will have to use some serious ressussitation equipmentOn Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -
