Well, it IS on CD, of course (I have it), but it's only the songs. I also have some isolated rips of the score, and although it's a bit annoying to listen to (with the fluctuations in volume etc.), I can definitely hear the potential of a good CD in there!I am extremely serious. -

Yeah, I mean a proper score release on CD. It's a very fine score indeed IMO.
Hint, Mikael? -

Agreed. Score was damn good. In fact, far better than Slumdog Millionaire.Racism, Prejudices and discrimination exists everywhere. -

Youtube has some videos from a recent concert at Sydney.

This one (Mausam & Escape from Slumdog Millionaire) in particular was pretty cool with frenetic sitar playing by Asad Khan -

That concert series was devised by a moron with no concern for giving the performers a break.
It looks like it is aimed at only the Indian fans settled abroad (mostly his song work in Hindi, and Tamil languages). All those locations are 'desi' hubs.
However there is this event below which seems much better-

Editorial Reviews
Review
Rahman may have grown by leaps and bounds over the years, working with some of the biggest names all over India and outside, but his finest scores still continue to be reserved for one person, Mani Ratnam. And for good reason too, considering the way Mani Ratnam has treated each of those songs in his movies. There are number of gems in the album, most notably being 'Ranjha Ranjha', 'Beera Beera' and 'Thok De Killi'. Go for it, this one is not to be missed as it has Rahman coming up with one of his best soundtracks in recent times. --platform47.com
Product Description
With Raavan, the Mani Ratnam- Rahman duo are ready to take on the music world once again with rich compositions and Earthy feel to this modern tale set against the theme of a classic mythological story. With 6 songs and a mix of assorted singers like Vijay Prakash, Sukhwinder Singh, Rekha Bharadwaj, Ila Arun, Kunal Ganjawala and other noted artists, the album is a treat for Rahman fans. Starting with a tribal song, the CD combines this with an upbeat melody, a romantic melodious number, a fast paced song and ends with a folk number.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

I think Rahman did a splendid job with this one. He even recorded the music for three different language versions of the film. -

I've heard this on youtube. But I'm just too jaded with stuff to want to return to it. A nice work though. -

It's very folk-influenced and all tracks are songs. It's not a genre that I'm fond of. I am increasingly tired of the raucous, celebratory kind of music he inevitably has for a couple of tracks in every album. It's the nature of the movies that demand for it. I'll take the mellow ones over them anyday. However, Khili Re is lovely.
And as a final stab to score fans, he decided that the end credits theme would work better as a song and decided to punt the theme for a song. Grrr!
Raavan is nice but I like his effort for Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya better. Blues/soft-rock.
