I love the french horn in a powerful score. Movies scores like Transformers, backdraft, Rudy, Dragonheart top my list. I was hoping to find a forum where someone could give me a run down of great scores to try that are powerful, moving, inspiring or just plain catchy with the main theme. Any suggestions are welcome. Please list movie and composer if possible.
Thanks -

It's a McDonalds over a gourmet meal. But that's not necessarily a bad thing... (Well, maybe with McDonalds it is!) -

Best action score? Very tough.
Probably is Raiders to be honest. Nothing will ever beat Agent Cody Banks on my top spot though. -

this is a start, does anyone have a top 10 list of scores. I do like the Da Vinci code theme and great raid, Black Hawk Down, The Holiday, Patton, Layer cake just to name a few off the top of my head. all have a few tracks that are very nice. Band of Brothers theme is great as well. That's my kind of taste, hopefully someone else will have similar taste.
I'll take any suggestions to expand my collection. -

I see absolutely NOTHING wrong with my choices especially with EasyCompany's preferences in the back of my mind while compiling the list. But looking back on my list even without Easy's input I think those above are fine ACTION scores!

Howard Shore - The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
If you're looking for action only then just go straight to the battles!
I agree on Independence Day and 13th Warrior too as well as many others but with huge lists you still don't know where to start!
In fact I'm listening to Independence Day right now. Here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=7uZ3blDlLZg -

Trumpets over growling trombones I would say?
One of the best action scores out there: The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift by Brian Tyler.
Some SERIOUS adrenalin pumping going on there!
Do NOT play while driving or operating heavy machinery!'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

"Symphonic Touge" is easily the best car-chase cue in the last decade.
I used to do body building with that cue playing in the background. PURE adrenaline rush ! -

The first Call Of Duty is a pretty decent action score too.
