RUSH HOUR 3 | lalo schifrin
Quite cool. Never heard the other two score, but the theme is addictive when it kicks in. Not a very memorable score though.Kazoo -

NP: Dancing with wolves (Barry)
I just can't have enough of this score. Brilliant, touching and passionate.
The movie is one of the best movies in the 90's. -

Bregt -- You closed the previous thread just as I was posting and I want to have my say...
Guys - Time to take this shit to PM's.
Jordi - You aren't an idiot but what you said was puzzling. I'm sure you were trying to be funny but I think you fail at humor more than you succeed... or at least maybe something is lost in translation.
Steven - Ya, a bit too far with your comments. Sure, we've all felt like jumping onto a plane, travel to Spain, find Jordi and give him a swift swat upside the head for some of the things he has said but we should really keep the name calling away from the boards unless someone around here has something personally defaming to say about you. Remember, we are all on the same side. We are film music geeks and there aren't a lot of people in the world who love this stuff as much as we do. So, thank God that there are places like this to come to and chat about our favorite hobby. Sure, we don't have to agree on everything but we do agree that this form of music KICKS SERIOUS ASS!!!
Look, I'm no saint either and have gotten carried away on a few occasions but I've tried my best to 1) Ignore Jordi 2) Step away from the computer for a few minutes when someone says something totally idiotic so that I don't write something as equally idiotic in the heat of the moment only to regret it 5 minute later when I've calmed down.
Cool?
Ok... NOW PLAYING
Listen to WXOU Radio --> they are playing a John Williams tribute show. Currently playing is the Theme to Amistad!

Jordi, ofcourse only when you say something moronic. It's not that you do that all day or so. You sure sparkle some discussion about non POTC things too.Kazoo -

That was an attempt at humour... sort of. No, I don't always ignore you... but the violin comment was completely ignored. I didn't want to waste my time on a response when one wasn't needed. I knew what you were trying to do and I felt that your post would have been easily forgotten if I just ignore it a move on. Obviously, some people couldn't resist! Too bad...

I understand you Erik, but I was not trying to "burn" some people with this comment.
Just was another way to explain, I find this violin solos (In every score, from Zimmer to Williams) too intrusive. Sometimes it works, but I find in this score a little bit too much.
It's just my opinion. But we discussed about this some months ago...so no more. -

Curious... what would be your device to underscore the horrors endured by the Jews in Schindler's List?

I didn't say it was a bad device or approach.
I just said, I don't like very much this kind of violin solos.
I think the same in a lot of Zimmer scores , including my highly loved The Prince Of Egypt.
Sometimes are too intrusive, and looking to much for tears...too obvious.
Talking about jews...I prefer Zimmer's The Last Days or Goldsmith's Masada. -

There's nothing we need to remember from this mismatch. So, people, please let go of it, take into account Jordi's problems with the language which DO deprive him significant means of expression - which DOES NOT MEAN HOWEVER HE'S EXCUSED FOR EVERYTHING HE EVER SAYS - and go on; Jordi, let it go as well, you've learned your lesson i am sure
lots of way nicer things to enjoy than being bitter.

I'm sure that it was something best forgotten.
But I have to say that I am disappointed with the way that posts are deleted on the whim of a moderator. If posts were left for all to see then people may be a bit more careful in what they write in the first place?
Anyway, moving on. I look forward to the next GTS. I'm sure that Michael's next game will be a toughie!!The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Alan,
Some things are nasty And it's best if they're forgotten as they have absolutely nothing of value to offer to anyone; not to mention that some things might also negatively backfire to some persons (Remember the Alex who's working for JNH-dude case over at scorereviews?)
I think our maintitles company here is mature enough (well at least, most of us ) NOT to need examples as such in order to think and operate as grown up, mature individuals in an online community.
Further down this line, a forum that doesn't - sometimes, in rare, extreme situations, delete posts, is essentially a forum with no moderation.

Anyway,
as i was saying, i am playing
MICHAEL GIACCHINO's LOST, VIA DOMUS (GAME RIP) pretty loud. There's a lot of mixed material on this one, all orchestral and all using the compositional devices and sounds found in the original LOST soundtracks but developed further into (simpler, but still, new) more themes and motifs, making up for the perfect dose for the Giacchino loonies of the world 'till LOST SEASON 3 (2CD) comes out eventually! Too much underscore though that ONLY those LOST loonies are most likely to appreciate in this, the perfect fix.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

I am GONE for SIX DAYS and THIS is what I come back to.
And NOBODY even has the proper GRACE to fill me in BEFOREHAND?
By THUNDER, people!
If you are UNABLE to behave I shall FLEX my not inconsiderable virtual (for to be honest, I should spend more time at the gym. In fact 12 hours a day might possibly see me come into any sort of acceptable shape before summer. But I digress.) muscle and have the ENTIRE SITE yanked and sold to a purveyor of DISNEY ANIMATRONICS PORN.
I hope I made my point?

At last!! Someone else praising this score. The number of times I went on about this score hoping that people would listen to me (or at least to the clips).
