That might be, but if it worked before, why not anymore (yeah, that's naive). I didn't change anything that could remotely have to d with posting comments, so I really can't see what could go wrong.

That it's browser-independent is exactly what I was thinking, and actually I'm leaning towards your firewall or your virusscanner to be the culprit.
It would be an interesting test to simply stop all your monitoring/protection tools for a bit and see what that does for access.'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

As you may remember I have AVG 9.0 and ZoneAlarm running (Windows firewall disabled) and looking at these two programs there's a lot going on:
AVG 9.0
LinkScanner (active) - AVG Active Surf-Shield prevents you from accidentally becoming infected by drive-by downloads and other exploits, ensuring that the web pages you visit are safe - when you are about to click the link. AVG Search-Shield works with search engines to deliver a real-time safety verdict on all search results.
Resident Shield - scans files as they are copied, opened and saved and if a threat is found, it prevents its activation.
ZoneAlarm
Firewall - Internet Zone Security set to medium & Trusted Zone Security set to medium
There's so much going on that perhaps this is affecting loading? But if it is then why is it just happening here and not with other sites I visit? The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

ALAN,
Try to download the following:
LATEST DRIVERS FOR YOUR PC PARTS (motherboard, sound card, tv-video card, cpu, etc). guru3d.com, nvidia.com etc etc. A FREE PROGRAM CALLED CPU-Z (which you can download from filehippo.com) can tell you exactly what parts your pc has.
JAVA RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT from filehippo.com
LATEST DIRECTX from microsoft.comLove Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Honestly?
I don't know.
But I do remember having this exact same problem with this very site...and it disappeared as soon as I got my "PC defense" cleaned up and weeded out.
It may be something to do with the forum template Bregt is using?
It's definitely worth a try, in my opinion, if only to rule that out.
D.'s suggestions above are also well-known solutions to problems like these, so very worthwhile to have a look into!'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

Thanks everyone for the help. Unless driver updates can be searched for by pressing one button within the System Properties window then this is all a bit too technical. Currently the location of the searches for drivers is set to look at installation discs.
I've used CPU-Z but I am completely thrown by the wealth of information. This and the information from the Device Manager just confuses me: what information is relevant, which website would I need to go to for the driver updates, where would I save the updated drivers to, etc.

Don't touch the bios for now.
For your mainboard theck out http://gr.msi.com/ and this topic here, http://www.adventsupport.com/viewtopic. … amp;t=3346
For your graphics card, go to nvidia.com and download the latest drivers for your model, and operating systems.
A quick search on your sound card returned this although if you have the time you can find exactly what you have

From the older generation, one of the things we became accustomed to, was purchasing a product and it would last a long time. Such is not the case with computers because of the constant improvement. Speaking for myself, I went through a tremendous learning curve to adapt to Windows XP and I paid a lot of money for my computer ($1500). As I get older it is harder for me to learn new things as the brain just doesn't function as well as it use to. Couple that with the stroke and it is even harder. You can tease me about Norton being a virus but after some initial effort I've not had a problem and never a virus. I've always found Photoshop to be to my liking because I learned (read 3 books) and it does what I need it to. In fact this notepad has Picasso which I don't like, likely because I'm not comfortable with it.

I've not tried anything as drastic as the suggestions you've made (at least I consider drastic).
I'm just getting pissed off with the whole thing at the moment.
Now my Amazon account seems to be f**ked up at the moment as well. I can log into my account to view my order history, etc but when I try and order something and have to log in again I get the message...
"We're sorry. The address you selected is no longer valid. Please choose a different address or return to the Amazon.co.uk Welcome page."
Obviously my e-mail address/password is fine because I can log in to view my order history, modify details, etc but I can't purchase downloads, orders CDs etc.The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Things seem to be working okay at the moment.
I do value your advice, Martijn. It's just I've always had it hammered home to me about security. It's always better to be overcautious than not cautious at all...but there's an overemphasis on security for people who simpy aren't at risk.
The biggest risk in contracting security breaches are
1) surfing for porn
2) downloading illegal applications and games (installable materials)
3) opening suspicious mails.
If you refrain from those activities the chances of getting infected or breached are quite low indeed.
Running "without shields up" for the limited amount of time a test would take carries a negligible risk factor (and even in the utterly unlikely event that coincidentally at that exact time someone would indeed happen to try and do harm to your system -which is the only way you'd really be at risk: from a hack event, as long as you stick to not doing any of the three High Risk actions outlined above- , the effect would quickly be mitigated or annulled by getting all your firewalls and scanners back up agan after the test.'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn
