Without a doubt 'Hog Chases' from 'Paycheck' by composer John Powell!!!! And let's not forget John Williams' 'Zam Chase' from 'Attack of the Clones! Is that an electric guitar in a Star Wars score? Yes it is biggrin

Though call, but when you're talking about spectacular taiko drumming there are just two outstanding cues I could think of:

''Kugutsuuta Kagirohi Ha Yomi Ni Mata Muto''
from Kôkaku Kidôtai 2: Inosensu (Ghost in the Shell Innocence) (Kenji Kawai)

    ''Dacoit Duel''
from Tian Di Ying Xiong (Warriors of Heaven and Earth) (A.R. Rahman)

OMG! How could I forget that one. This is one of these ultimate cues!

Easily up there with the best of the best, IMHO, is "Raisuli Attacks" from The Wind and the Lion by Jerry Goldsmith.

Another is "Talking Drums" from White Witch Doctor by Bernard Herrmann.

"Attack on the Mountain Stronghold" from King of the Khyber Rifles by Herrmann contains a gigantic percussion section.

Can we add "Marches" or is that too easy?

I listened to the 'Azkaban' score this morning. Definitely in the run for this topic is the Openingssequence from 'Buckbeat's Flight'. I think nobody ever beated the drums & timpani that hard!

Go make some noise good ol' Johnny boy! punk

There's a great percussion-based action cue in the film version of the "Werewolf Scene" in the Azkaban movie but sadly it's unreleased.

"TA TA RI GAMI (The Demon God)" from Princess Mononoke by Joe Hisaishi. This music and scene scared me as a kid.

I just finished up listening to The Express and the drum machine yet prevails again. How hard would it have been to record the drums of a marching band? It is about football.

How about "Palais de Chaillot" from The Madwoman of Chaillot by Michael J. Lewis? This masterful piece is NOTHING BUT percussion! Simply amazing.

And to prove I'm objective, I'm going to go ahead and point out "Synchrotone" from Black Hawk Down. No, not even my recent efforts have made me capable of appreciating that score beyond the lovely "Mogadishi Blues" and "Leave No Man Behind" tracks, but I will give the score this much: it's percussion all over. Not very pleasant at all in my opinion, but if it's percussion you want, there it is.

The title of the topic brings this to my mind:

    BATTLESTAR GALACTICA
    DARKVOID

    By Bear McCreary of course.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
