ah yes, heard that a long time ago, it was very nice.
If I'm not mistaken, didn't it sound like Wojciech Kilar?

    Kilar? Who he?? wink

Was interested to read this review - I've not even heard of this movie!

I've just downloaded 4 tracks from this score that caught my attention from clips: "Love Journey", "Kiss All Around It", "Waiting, Reaching, Seeking" & "Montage Finale". All great tracks.

Interested to hear that "Waiting, Reaching, Seeking" is reminiscent of David Michael Frank's The Mole. I've not come across this score either. I may have to track this one down if it is similar to this track.

    Thanks for the review!

    New compilation
    http://www.filmfestival.be/about2.cgi?g … mp;lang=en

The Ghent Film Festival is continuing its film music series ‘For the Record’ with a compilation of the best film music by Angelo Badalamenti played by the Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Dirk Brossé. The album contains music from a.o. Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks, Wild at Heart, The Straight Story, Mulholland Drive and The Edge of Love. On the 2 CD-set, contributions by Marianne Faithfull, Beth Rowley and Dolores O’Riordan can be found.

The album contains music from films such as Blue Velvet, Un Long Dimanche de Fiançailles, Cousins, La Cité des Enfants Perdu, The Comfort of Strangers, Twin Peaks, Wild at Heart, L'Adversaire, Evilenko and The Straight Story. In addition, the credits music from the American series Inside the Actors Studio can be found on the album, together with the ‘Torch Theme’ which Badalamenti wrote for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992.

Well, I just got this compilation - it's a 2 CD set for a great price, and I can highly recommend this. I must confess I've only listened to it yet with half an ear, but what I heard was good, performance as well as mix are really well done, and an improvement even over the WSA last year. The selection is really varied, too. It's refreshing to hear Badalamenti with slightly more emphasis on the orchestral element.

I haven't heard the above, but the ALATRISTE suite i've heard is terribly slow and lacks power and emotion compared to the original. I don't know how it was to go through it live, but it doesn't translate good on CD, imo.

It's a completely different orchestra, and it's not a live recording either. The above is from the Ghent festival. wink

    44 INCH CHEST

Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, John Hurt, Tom Wilkinson, Stephen Dillane, and Joanne Whalley star in 44 Inch Chest, first-time feature filmmaker Malcolm Venville’s darkly comic tale of a man who rallies his friends in order to seek revenge against the French waiter who recently slept with his wife. Sexy Beast scribes Louis Mellis and David Scinto penned the screenplay for this film produced by Richard Brown and Steve Golin.

The mysteriously beautiful score is from famed composer Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks).

ANGELO BADALAMENTI - 44 INCH CHEST

What an odd score..there's the usual string-driven Badalementi paranoia, there's the synth veils that create a heady, mysterious mood, there's some melancholic string-led pieces, there's upbeat smooth and some not so smooth jazz all over the place, there's electronics...not a coherent listen on CD i have to admit, and surely one that needs to be examined within the movie it accompanies..maybe then it gains some more meaning, although judging by the music, i am very curious to see how this movie is / feels like.
