Just got a copy of Death Defying Acts, yet another tale of the famous Harry Houdini. The score is from Cezary Skubiszewski and is quite good. My first impression is how varied the styles of music are. The film is being released next month in the United States but has already had a release in Australia. I will review this.

And I'm so surprised that our own opinionated Michael has nothing to say on this fine score performed by the Victorian Philharmonic (thats Australian). I've had another listen and have grown quite fond of it.

...and it does sound quite interesting. Thanks for pointing out this score Tom.The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

one thing I do understand is the story is 100% fiction. None of this ever happened to Houdini.

Shirley you're more disappointing rather than surprised? I don't imagine many people have heard of Cezary Skubiszewski, regardless of how good it might be. -

Regardless, this is one to be explored.

I know several of Skubiszewski's works (BLACK AND WHITE, SOUND OF ONE HAND CLAPPING, AFTER THE DELUGE), but this one hasn't been offered for sale here yet. Lakeshore Records is the first label to release it anywhere, and they've never sent me review copies ever - not even when I was reviewing. I must say I'm curious given the impression it has made on you.A butterfly thinks therefore I am -

A sample link is provided by Alan in an above thread. I'm now of course curious as to what some of his other material sounds like. I must say that the last two scores Wall.E and Death Defying Acts have really been quite good.

I don't think that many people have had a chance yet to hear more than the clips. I think that it has only recently become available and if I ordered it from SAE tomorrow it would not arrive here for 7-10 days. And at $17 I'm a bit loathe to buy it from Amazon.co.uk on Tuesday - £16!The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

I've just noticed that there's a digital download release of some tracks of Skubiszewski's film music:
