WARNER BROS. RECORDS TO RELEASE THE SOUNDTRACK TO THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS 2 ON AUGUST 5TH 2008

Soundtrack to highly anticipated summer sequel features a brand-new original song from Michelle Branch and music from Cyndi Lauper, Hot Hot Heat, Missy Higgins, and Eric Hutchinson

July 22, 2008 — Burbank, CA — Warner Bros. Records will release the original soundtrack to Alcon Entertainment and Alloy Entertainment’s new film THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS 2, on August 5th, one day before the movie, hits theaters nationwide.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 – Soundtrack features music by Cyndi Lauper, Missy Higgins, Craig David, Hot Hot Heat and Eric Hutchinson, whose song "Rock & Roll" will be the first single off the album. The soundtrack contains one original track, a previously unreleased song by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Michelle Branch, who was inspired to write her contribution, “Together,” after seeing a cut of the film.

“Michelle reached out to us early in the process as she was interested in writing a song; while her label, Warner Bros. Records, was releasing the soundtrack,” says the film’s music supervisor Julia Michels. “It was very organic how the music picture came together. Michelle wrote the perfect song for the end titles, and a number of other artists on Warner Bros. Records also worked well on the soundtrack for the film. The movie has wonderful music that serves the film brilliantly.”

Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera, Blake Lively and Alexis Bledel reunite onscreen in “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2” as the lifelong best friends audiences fell in love with three years ago.

Based on Ann Brashares’ best-selling series of novels about four young women who share an unbreakable bond through the unpredictable events of their lives, the new story catches up with Tibby, Carmen, Bridget and Lena in the summer following their first year of college. On separate paths now, they strive to keep in touch while experiencing the freedom, love, choices and challenging life lessons that mark their individual journeys toward adulthood.

Directed by Sanaa Hamri from a screenplay by Elizabeth Chandler, based on the novels by Ann Brashares, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 also stars Rachel Nichols, Rachel Ticotin, Shohreh Aghdashloo and Blythe Danner. It is produced by Debra Martin Chase, Denise Di Novi, Broderick Johnson and Kira Davis; with executive producers Andrew A. Kosove, Christine Sacani, Alison Greenspan, Leslie Morgenstein, and Bob Levy; and co-producers Steven P. Wegner, Yolanda T. Cochran, and Gaylyn Fraiche.

Alcon Entertainment presents a Di Novi Pictures / Debra Martin Chase Production, in association with Alloy Entertainment: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. The film will be released worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, on August 6th, 2008.
