  7. Apparently we in the UK are getting some remaining weather from another recent hurricane. Made the mistake of telling the children this the last time we had windy weather and they panicked: they thought we were going to have a hurricane.

    I had to quickly gen up on my hurricane knowledge to explain why a hurricane could not happen here.

    The torrents of rain has stopped, it's sunny with cloudy blue skies but very windy, I think it might be an imminent hurricane.

    Golden brown leaves are swept along on a wind that is more chilly than the orange vestiges of the sun promise. People hurry home. The light fades earlier each day, and I light candles. They drive away the chill and the dark.

    It doesn't help your predicament Tom but I love fog. I even enjoy driving in the fog, and that includes driving on motorways!

    When I was a kid living back home I remember it being a very foggy day and I was standing in the middle of a football field that I knew was surrounded on all sides by (admittedly usually quiet) roads and houses. But I couldn't see any of that (I couldn't even see the edges of the pitch) and it was so quiet (everyone knows how fog seems to just absorb all the sound around?) It was just so peaceful!!
