Well, there are movie scores, and then there are TV scores. We don´t have to talk about the differences and/or the difficulties of budget, time, and the other well known aspects. Recently, we´ve seen (ehm, heard) some fantastic TV work, but that doesn´t make Merlin a lesser work. It is right there beside Murray Gold´s Doctor Who scores or Andy Price´s Robin Hood score. It can´t rival Trevor Jones´ TV movie work, but it will give most known fantasy series a run for cover. If you like TV scores with slightly smaller scale than movie scores, you´ll like this. I mean, listen to the samples, and you´ll know. -

i hv problems accessing this site for the download --> http://www.filmmusicdownloads.com/WebFi … tm?id=6439
are thr any kind souls who can upload the album to mediafire or sendspace or megaupload? pls pls pls? thanks -

Lolandra, I am the producer of this CD. Are you suggesting that members of this group should upload this album for you to enjoy for free? Then if everyone would do that, do you think that we can release anymore soundtracks? Do you think that a small record label such as MovieScore Media would survive if people didn't pay for the music?
Regarding filmmusicdownloads.com, due to numerous problems with the administration of the store, we have decided to close it - temporarily. We are currently working on a new solution and will, hopefully soon, be able to offer all of our albums in sparkling 320 kbit mp3 format just as before. In the meanwhile, please note that our albums are available at iTunes, if you prefer to download instead of buying the CD!
If you would like to purchase the CD instead of downloading, you can find it here: http://www.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm?ID=10783
All the best,

Ouch.
MC, any news about a second Merlin score containing music from episodes 4-13? I´m enjoying the first album very much and can´t wait to get the rest, especially the music from the Lancelot episode. I would even be happy with a two or three track download from that episode alone, if a complete album is not possible.
Note to lolandra: Run. -

I am in talks with Rob Lane to do a second volume, but nothing decided yet!

That it´s even considered is good enough news for me. Thanks for trying! -

If there's gonna be a volume 2, I'll probably re-buy no. 1 on CD as well at the same time.
I purchased it as a download, but even though the quality is absolutely marvellous and the artwork is of high quality... I simply feel kinda out of sorts without a physical CD to hold.
Silly, isn't it?

Okay, thanks. Done.
Artwork sounded a bit more like a booklet of some kind, but some covers are nice as well. -

I'm happy to announce that MovieScore Media will release the soundtrack from the second season of the popular BBC fantasy series "Merlin" on November 17. Epic, large-scale orchestral magic for the small screen! Here's a sneak preview for you all!

I really liked the first album.
I'll have a listen at the clips to see if this will be another purchase (this time as a proper CD though!)

So we´ll never get the rest of season 1?
What about Gwen´s or Lancelot´s themes? I know they are featured in season 2 again, but at least Lancelot´s was a slightly different version (without choir, I think), and I really, really wanted that first season theme. I so hope that at least the season 2 version will be on the score this time? Honestly, if you leave them out again, I think I will implode. -

Ralph, a lot of the music in series two is material used already in the first, so I think that you will find a lot of the goodies on this one.
Here is the track listing:

3 The Attraction of Evil 3:01
4 Gwen & Arthur 0:55
5 Avalon 4:12

7 The Joust 2:00
8 Myror The Assasin 2:31
9 Lancelot Leaves 1:55

The music is significantly similar to the theme tune of Baldur's Gate II, a computer game that is now quite old. Is it the same composer?
In addition, to comments about it ripping off Howard Shore, I would care, were he not quite so blatant with bits of Mahler (2nd and 5th symphonies), Sibelius (3rd symphony, 9 minutes in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3u8sEaohHMk) and Shepherd (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7g7jOKLUus8) littering his scores. -

Last week they used a 95% identical copy of a track of a JNH score, King Kong, I believe. -

They have been using a lot of recycled music this season which is a bit of a disappointment, but I would still love to see a third soundtrack come out. There was a lot of music from the second season not included on the second CD I would love to listen to.
