- Comment The Holiday Very boring indeed but I agreed to watch it in return for my wife watching Star Wars. Star Wars 9 Fine for what it was. Met expectations. Not as good as the previous two. Dunkirk An outstanding film. Was surprised by how poor the score was in context (expected it to be ok). These ...

I’ve already listened to it more than any other new film score this year (and there have been some very good ones) and I’ve only had it a few days. Williams is ...

- Comment Quite possibly. He’s scored several commercials for D&G over the last few years (directed, unlike this one, by Tornatore). Those were so lushly-scored I’ve really hoped they may get released as download singles (but none of them has).

- Comment I listen to film music a lot less than I used to. A LOT less. When I do listen to it, it’s barely ever to albums - almost always playlists. I finally became old enough to realise that arguing about opinions was not a productive use of time. I think that about sums it up for me.

- Comment Mission: Impossible - Fallout Quite entertaining (and the most Bond-like of all these - in fact it would require very few changes to actually be a Bond film) but given the rhapsodic reaction it got I was expecting it to blow me away. - Comment Aladdin I go to the cinema about twice a year and has to use one of my 2019 visits for this. I’ll say one thing for it, it’s visually resplendent- extraordinary to look at. I’ll say another thing for it - the actress playing Jasmine is also extraordinary to look at. Contrary to what ...

- Comment Game of Thrones I was never as hooked by this as many others, but it was terrific in its last few episodes (except the awful digital compression - was horrible to watch at times).
