Angie
Jerry Goldsmith
" Angie is light but lovely Goldsmith "Written by Thomas Glorieux - Review of the regular release
Angie is Goldsmith on a lighter lovelier side. After all between The Shadow, The River Wild and Bad Girls there's a baby waiting to be born. The film wasn't that successful, but it featured a lovely Geena Davis and it had a lovely Jerry Goldsmith score. The main theme is typical Goldsmith: light and charming and it's featured as much as possible throughout the score. True, one tends to lose some interest considering it all stays soft (and this ain't a long album so that's saying something). There's a spark of creativity or diversity missing from this one. But it's all rectified when beauty meets birth in "He's Alive". All in all, nothing too fancy and sometimes even a bit forgettable. But when the theme gets repeated encores, it's Goldsmith heaven again for sure.
The theme, whether on accordion or through the strings is the one that will be remembered.
At 34 minutes it's even a bit too long, especially in the dragging middle.
