Fataal Schot (Fatal Shot, 2026) is a Dutch documentary directed by Hans Pool. In the director's view on significant matters throughout his career, there are a series of valuable documentary films and series conveying stalwart social observations.

The documentary reconstructs how, among a circle of friends playing football together, often spending time in a local pub, an apparent conflict within the group resulted in one of them murdering another person.

Explicitly, the original score by Kieboom inspires because of its use of the guitar. The instrument, the wailing, transcendental, harsh and uncomplicated melodic plucking and more have been used endlessly, but especially the sporadic, fragmentised use is what, depending on the score and its film's subject, either invokes truly deepening melancholy or can communicate a desolate emptiness but can also be used as a powerful progressive instrument, pushing the narrative of the score and its subject forward. Despite its strong point in documentaries, there is a thin line between being appropriate and being utterly blasé.

Kieboom explained he approached the score and the café surroundings of the circle of friends, also interconnected to the three featured songs by folk singer André Hazes, and wanted to express it through the continuous use of guitars. The instrument is also used in an ordinary manner, regularly plucked, but also employed strongly in a dramatic and a progressive method. As a musical identity for the murderer, the composer played the instrument very high with a huge sustain and a bend from one note to the next, giving the musical theme a nagging and unsettling ton

Overall, the score, combining the important role of the guitar in various manners with a wider subdued musical palette, marks this a good, subtle work that deeply resonates with the drama of the documentary.
