" The music by Geffray is predictably focused on electronic music "

The French Maud Geffray is known for her work as a DJ (Massive Scratch, a duo with Sébastien Chenut). Beyond their regular work, they have composed music for films, as has Geffray individually. Her best effort to date is this new score for Je Le Jure in 2025. It is a courtroom drama focusing on a protagonist, with all his personal issues, who is summoned to serve in a jury and contribute to the verdict of a suspected murderer.

The music by Geffray is predictably focused on electronic music. The 14-minute short release shows some interesting dramatic progression, using recurring atmospheric moods—very brooding and semi-emotionally attaching. But apart from the film, it is far less engaging, devoid of the 'servicable' and emotional aspect.

The score opens with 'Partie de chass', wherein the use of elecronics and processed French horn, is especially notable. It is a clichéd contrivance of signaling justice and other courtroom environment themes and emotions, mostly from an Anglo-Saxon point of view. Yet here, in how it is presented in the electronical spacious and more distanced environment, it becomes more effect that a majority of the cliché examples.

Arguably, 'La Femma' is an example of a popularized and dramatic cue, featuring the pulse of an electronic beat, deformed female voice, and distorted strings, reminiscent of how composers invigorate scores in contemporary times.

Sometimes subtlety is wrong, but in a film as this, it evidently helps in conveying all the emotions already present in the film, more strongly through the composer' approach, which also does not entirely refrain from portions of greater expression.
