Love Field

It's a strange given, but Love Field isn't exactly one of Jerry Goldsmith's best. Strange considering the time it was composed in, strange considering it's still a melodic masterful piece compared to today's music. Yet, if you have listened to so much Goldsmith's music by now, you have to accept some are just a bit weaker than others. No matter the elements that are on board. We have a theme, a pleasant overall feeling (mostly due to the piano playing) and occasional darker cues courtesy of Goldsmith's suspense. The suspense is not exactly the winner here, it's been done and let's be honest, more inspiring in many others. And the theme is nice, but again not really memorable. The first and final track are perhaps the ones to keep, the middle is rather forgettable. Considering it's a score of exactly 28 minutes long, it still feels as a burden to listen to. Which is already troublesome given the already insanely short length. Nope, Love Field is for Goldsmith fanatics who think that his weakest music is still so much better than today's top music. And even though I'm supposed to be one of them, I still have my reservations with this one.

Pleasant theme, and okay opening and closing track.
The suspenseful tone hardly screams creativity here.
At 28 minutes long, it still feels way too long. And that is troublesome.
