Shunkashuutou Daikousha: Haru no Mai

Shunkashuutou Daikousha: Haru no Mai (春夏秋冬代行者 春の舞 オリジナルサウンドトラック, Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring, 2026) is a Japanese animated television series based on the light novel series created earlier by Kana Akatsuki.

The music by the composer is cohesive in recurring thematic content, but in its execution and choices of instruments, each variation goes from almost first-class renditions to suitably popular takes, including both ends of the spectrum, combining elegant strings and piano with prevalent elements and (un)desirable and ethereal synthesisers.

Without delving specifically into the purpose of compositions in the context of the series, all composed to overly melodramatic handkerchief moments of the series are fine compositions on their own despite the melodrama, but they emphasize the absurd, often tiresome flowing of tears.

As an extra, the seasonal songs by various female and male singers are excellent, not poppy at all, from a distance carrying signs of traditional Japanese music, which in the overall score is found in transcendental and edifying appliance of percussion and chimes.

The score is available digitally and on CD, spread across two discs, by Aniplex.
