Alexandre Desplat - Nid de Guepes

I tried listening to this many years ago but didn't make it beyond the first few cues. Then a few months ago I saw the movie and totally loved it (movie and score).
Just started a fresh listen... there's a stirring string theme that's to die for!

This is a score that I've struggled to get into myself. It sounds as though I need to see the movie and then revisit this one?

Well, the movie is definitely a great watch and perhaps you'll like it after watching. But you might like the score better if you check out the 2nd half of it when the real action begins.
    Top score! punk

    Bicentennial Man James Horner

I know it's derivative, I know it's not original... but it's one of my favourites. The reason it's one of my favourites is it can make me cry. That's not something many people have seen, I can assure you!

NP : STAR TREK NEMESIS - Jerry Goldsmith

I'm not sure if this is what I really want to play right now but I'll give it a track or two and see if I warm to it?

NP: My own selection from Gladiator (Zimmer)

Duduk of the north, Progeny, earth, to Zuchabar, Secrets, Might of Rome and Honor Him.

I really enjoy this sound. Very intimate and pure. far from the boring Wagnerian-Holts-Prokoview stuff of the rest of the score...

    Yeah, an hour.

I can also think of LA time, New York time, Israel time and sometimes Australia time, but I have to know where exactly is the person.

NP: RETURN OF THE JEDI - John Williams

You'd think the Ewok theme would be the most irritating thing ever, but it's actually really catchy! Unlike a certain theme for a tiny Asian sidekick.

    Cinderella Man Thomas Newman

The day Newman stops scoring films will be the day people will appreciate scores like this more often. Much like people have with Goldsmith's "average" action scores. (Although I wouldn't call this an average score by any stretch of the imagination, I think it's wonderful.)
