  1. I think Ridley Scott can make any sort of movie, whatever genre. I think he would be perfect for this Blood Meridian (despite I haven't heard anything of this title whatsoever)
    waaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh
  2. Upcoming Film Scores blog is reporting (along with GSA Music) that Newman will score "The Debt", for Madden. Madden has worked consistantly with Stephen Warbeck (including his last film, where Warbeck's score was replaced) up until this point.

Last night, i spent more than 2 hours (without break) in listening some of my favorite and selected tracks from various movies composed by Thomas Newman. I say he is genius. Most of his works are really awesome. In fact, i don't have words to describe about his works. I heard selected tracks from score albums like Road to Perdition, Meet Joe Black, Shawshank Redemption, Lemony Snicket: A series of Unfortunate events, Scent of a Woman, Finding Nemo, The Green Mile, American beauty, The Horse Whisperer, The War etc. I enjoyed last night, tonight, i have plan to listen to selected tracks from various movies composed by James Horner.

Tom Newman's style is unique and it might take time to get accustomed to it, but once you understand the motivation behind the music (especially after watching the film) you discover how lovely his scores are. I absolutely loved last year's Wall-E score.
  3. Thomas Newman's score to Brothers is due for release on the 30th November:

I want to stress how beautiful and captivating his piano / guitar-led and thematic score for BROTHERS is. Granted it's an insignificant digital release of low running time, people, don't let this fact alone prevent you from listening to this man's new music. It's all worthy in all aspects.

I wasn't that impressed to be honest. The guitar-led theme is quite nice but I don't find the score 'captivating' as a whole. Perhaps I should give it another listen?

Well, it depends. I can't imagine something that Nemwan fans could find as mediocre or uninteresting in there. It's all Newman fragile and sentimental goodness smile

I'm still hoping Todd Fields will hire him again to score Blood Meridian. A Western score by Newman has to be something worth hearing!

  5. Me too. I think Newman must expand his genres. His voice is so clear, that it would be VERY, VERY interesting to hear it in other genres than (mostly) quirky dramas.

Is Field definitely making that film? If so then I would be very excited, but thought the film was rather uncertain.

    Another western score? Great.

What would be even cooler is that he would do this gig:

That would certainly be interesting? But would a multitude of one minute tracks suit Bond? wink
